Dimensity 9300 in vivo X100 Pro throttles after 15 minutes in stress test

27 November 2023
As expected from a chip with four performance cores.

If we compare all of the chipsets, the Kirin are still the best ones.

Mijing, 27 Nov 2023No more waterproof 🤣 in next year if want performance Cool... moreGuarantee yourself no brand will put an older chipset on their flagship series as long as they can use the best one out there, even with all the caveats and heating problems.

Cooling fan mandatory In next year
Or go back to 8 gen 2 / 9200 Performance with better AI

Muthu, 27 Nov 2023SD 800 and 801 were fine SoCs. I think you meant 808 and 81... moreYes. Qualcomm's naming scheme was so confusing.

Im not a fanboy of anything else then a good competition so if the 9300 fail it's a shame for the competition and for all of us consumers. So i rly don't understand why some of you guys laughing... Maybe you don't see the full picture i guees.

Mediatek failed again or what? If these got use on 8 gen 3 offcourse it's throttling test would also be the same but these is the super extreme stress test for cpu's not for gpu only wild life extreme are for gpu's I think?

hahh failed, need 20mm thickness phhone with better cooling xD

                      what a joke of a CPU 🤣

they should flip towards home heating solutions it seems 🤡

Zephyr701, 27 Nov 2023I thought there might be some strategy behind this unusual ... moreThe problem is both cooling and the chipset itself, but the core problem is how the phone is gonna dissipate great heat. Consumer/normal phones don't have active fans but do have graphene panels or vapor chambers to get rid of that heat.

I guess Vivo should either add a fan somewhere or just let what's gonna happen happens

Let's just see how the 8 gen 3 performs next.

Mills, 27 Nov 2023They were VERY ambitious when designing schematics and fabb... moreI agree completely, but having four Cortex-X4 cores sounds like a recipe for disaster. Unless you have active cooling, it's not going to give you an increase in stable performance, and it's still going to get really hot. Also, clockspeeds are harder to scale with 4 Cortex-X4 cores, so they would need to have lower clockspeeds than a standard Cortex-X4 core, and they still end up getting throttled due to too much heat. IMO they should've stuck to two Cortex-X4 cores and had six Cortex-A720 cores alongside it. I completely get ditching Cortex-A520 cores btw, as they aren't power efficient, just area efficient, and the performance is barely better than Cortex-A515, Cortex-A510 and even Cortex-A58.

Now Qualcomm can make the heating jokes for MediaTek, as a little revenge from 888/ 8 gen 1 days.

This is expected in earlier units.

I thought there might be some strategy behind this unusual concept, but it doesn't seem to be working very well.

Darth Caesium, 27 Nov 2023How to cripple performance: a case study in stupidity perfo... moreThey were VERY ambitious when designing schematics and fabbing this chip

And this SoCs reputation has plummeted by 40%. If your chipset throttles below 10 minutes in a throttle test, then that's gonna drive users away, they don't want a hot glass brick.

Let's just wait for the GPU stress test and if this chipset really did f*ck up. For now, D9300 isn't looking so good. Companies however, have 4 ways to take this about.

1 - Do not use this chipset and use 9200.
2 - Use this chipset but use a massive graphene heatsink or an active fan
                                      3 - Use SD8 G2 and
                                      4 - Use Exynos 1380 (corny joke)
