Report: Apple abandons 5G modem development

iPhones will most likely continue to use Qualcomm modems for the foreseeable future.

        What's the point? They have already released their iPhones in India at upto 40% markup from the US price without mmWave 5g. Its such a discriminatory decision by Apple.

          7hs, 30 Nov 20235G is the biggest scam in tech lately. "No latency&quo... more5G is not a scam. The technology is real and it is desperately needed in many metros with highly congested towers. The problem, as usual, is not the tech itself, but the carriers implementing it.

          The common method is NSA 5G. This one uses existing 4G infrastructure, but the drawback is latency is not improved and 4G takes precedence. Most carriers around the world do this because it's the easier and cheaper route vs doing SA 5G. SA 5G is the ideal implementation. But that requires hefty investment in infrastructure.

          Imo what we will see is 4G being shuttered in the next few years to make room for 5G deployment.
