Previously, both the S23 and S23+ had only one RAM option available - 8GB. Now the S24+ is joining the Ultra in offering a higher tier.

He said even the base $1200 S24 Ultra is using 8GB Ram. What a joke of a company.

777cobalt, 30 Nov 20238GB of RAM on a device that's going to be $800 USD and... moreactually i forgot to add something: considering how heavy oneUI is, 8GB might not actually be enough in the long term. it'll be fine at launch but 2-3 years later we might start seeing reports of issues.
this isn't just a samsung issue btw. remember how i mentioned that the $500 7a has 8GB? the base model 8 does too. they're planning to support it for 7 years which sounds nice but i don't think it'll work out well.

James Holden, 30 Nov 2023While everyone's moving forward, Samsung moves 2 steps... moreMaybe those users should lose some weight!

While everyone's moving forward, Samsung moves 2 steps backward. What a shame. 16 gigs would benefit heavy users greatly!

8GB of RAM on a device that's going to be $800 USD and released in 2024 is absurd. The $499 Pixel 7a has that amount of RAM. I know that 8GB is perfectly usable for most people (my Pixel 6a has 6GB and works fine) but intentionally limiting stuff on the base model just to "segment" the series is a really scummy thing to do.
