Losing the 10X lens… really risky as that was a real difference for the Ultras. I think it makes it less attractive as an option as I bet the Pixel 8 Pro’s 5X beats it now at 10X.

S24 Ultra will no longer be the zoom king

Did I get this right? Base S24 comes with poverty chip that melts your hands and battery, but S24+ comes with a good chip that everyone wants and in all regions?

looks clean, glad the camera bumps are almost non-existent, just hope the smallest compact model/s24 also comes with the snapdragon here in the states, unless the exynos actually gets just as great real use reviews, altho i just cloud stream games and watch content so I don't necessarily need all the power, but just a smooth/cool experience, otherwise i prefer compact phones and personally love the flat sides iphone minimalist look was always my favorite, so i'll be looking to buy

Really disappointing colour selection. No cream/white model but boring old grey?

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2023removable battery obviously much harder to get ip-rating ... moreBut IP68 doesn't always stop the white strip indicator from turning pink, and even Samsung doesn't honor warranty for that. You even lose ip68 even if only simple repairs were done. Unless they changed, it was hilarious to see Samsung warned a friend, after repairing his S7, to avoid getting the S7 wet again.
And lots of these, especially gaming phones, are only IP53. Just a few splash and they're done. No ip68 benefit and even no way to quickly pull out battery when wet lmao.

taurus-555, 02 Dec 2023its gonna be the best phone ever cuz that flat screen is a ... moreIt is a great smartphone but to say that it is perfect is to fall into fanaticism. None of them are perfect, neither this one in particular nor any other brand. You just have to see the technical sheet to realize that each one has pros and cons. And that's without going into assessing other issues such as software.

x3merrr, 02 Dec 2023Flat screen!?!? So now we have a cheaper looking phone, we ... moreThe fact that the sales price of the device does not drop does not mean that this cost savings from Samsung (or whatever brand it is, I don't care) by using a cheaper type of screen does not also manifest itself in savings for the customer. Perhaps putting the screen flat allows the price not to increase or to do so to a lesser extent compared to continuing to be curved. Asking for improvements every year has a price and even more so if there is an inflationary period. Luckily for us, there is a lot of competition and brands do not have as much freedom to raise profit margins exaggeratedly at the expense of the consumer.

Azza2, 02 Dec 2023So you are saying it is actually a 0.8 x crop made up to 12... moreIt's not really the same.

Samsung crops from 12 to 10mp to make the lens look longer and then does a simple digital scaling from 10 to 12 so the image doesn't feel smaller because of the initial crop (but the detail level is still 10mp) .

Apple has a more complicated and successful process: it crops from 50mp (without using pixelbining, at maximum resolution) so that the photo does not lose resolution compared to the common shot (12mp or 24mp) and supposedly mixes that crop together with a photo taken at 12mp (taken with pixel bining, that is, using the entire sensor) to have in the final result the dynamic range and noise of the common photo with pixelbining. That is, it theoretically offers you a photo with the level of detail, noise and dynamic range according to the simulated focal length. And from what I've seen, in 28mm and 35mm it doesn't do bad. At 48mm, without being bad, the aggressiveness of the crop becomes a little more evident.

The thing I'm still really curious about if they add Qi2 to it or not. That would be one of the biggest thing they could add to ít.
