Both nxtpaper phones are crapola as they both use pwm and flicker, leading to headache and eye strain. Both phones are nothing like eink or ereaders. These nxtpapers are just cheap standard (flickering) backlight lcd panels with a matte coating.

Question: Why does my phone not have a matte display?
Answer: Because matte displays s*ck. They vastly reduce the image quality and just smear reflections into larger areas making them even harder to read. Also, they are harder to clean because you can’t just wipe grease away from the oleophobic coating and instead have to use water. So no display should ever be matte, not on a phone nor a laptop or a monitor, never.

There is a reason why smartphone manufacturers pick glossy screens, and tbh I would prefer glossy monitors as well

You'll definitely know the reason why, even if this article never existed.
