Interestingly, there is a A05/128GB/6GBRAM that exist. I bought it in eBay UK as backup phone and SatNav. Main reason why I bought the A05 and not the A05s is the low resolution but large (6.7in) PLS LCD which I expect longer battery life. I frequently travel to different countries as part of my job and having a cheap but reliable backup/SatNav phone is very important to me. I just received it from eBay and I will be setting up in an hour to find out if the £134 I paid for it is worth it.

Good display specs don’t matter if the phone is laggy to use. Also, the iPhone SE gets around 4.5 hours of heavy use according to Mrwhosetheboss’s battery test.

Dom, 11 Dec 2023It’s processor is so slow it can’t even hit 90hzsnapdragon 680 can run the UI at 90fps to match 90hz, you can see the difference from a 60hz phone. The SOC has significantly higher clock Adreno 610, nearly double of the standard 600Mhz 610 and already surpassed the Mali G52MP2 in the Helio G80 . The same chipset is used in the mid range Galaxy A23. Of course, by A05s come out, Snapdragon 680 is a bit old to attract any interest.

I hate Samsung’s obsession with making all of their phones look the same. I really wish they just put in one decent 12mp sensor instead of one mediocre and two useless ones.

If this phone costs $150, then I don’t think I can recommend it to anyone when you can get an refurbished unlocked galaxy s21 for only $40 more

Anonymous, 10 Dec 2023Do you see apple selling any iphone at 150$?You can get a 2020 iPhone SE for $150 with 128gb of storage refurbished, and I’d rather use that than a galaxy a05s because Apple’s business model is built on having their products last for a long time so they can have loyal customers who invest in their ecosystem, but Samsung’s business model is to sell as many cheap phones as possible.

What you are NOT getting is monthly updates - the lower tier you go, the less update frequency, but considering how the A0X and A1X are mostly oriented towards people who "need a phone" and not "an actual smartphone", having an update every 3-6 months in exchange for big savings is fully justified.
