Not a problem, their loss if this is true as I won't by the vanilla version.

Well that's a shame. The Pro seemed amazing on paper. Quite disappointing, Xiaomi

https://www.androidcentral.com/heres-why-xiaomi-doesnt-sell-phones-us
The primary reason for Xiaomi not selling its phones in the U.S. has to do with its business model. The Chinese brand has a 5% threshold on profits from hardware sales, and as a result, its phones deliver great value. While this strategy has allowed Xiaomi to undercut the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and others globally, it doesn't work in the carrier-dominated model followed in the U.

uae1955, 14 Dec 2023and that's exactly what I call freedom as in "fre... moreI waited till the Xiaomi 14 pro launched then look at the reviews on camera & video performance. I didn't like them & straight purchased the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. By then the price of the 13 Ultra in China dropped to a more resonable value. First thing was to install google services & uninstall all the Chinese apps. With the Chinese rom, I was surprised NFC works & so does google wallet. Next was Open Cam app. I used Open Cam for front selfies with zero beauty effect & 4K selfie videos! Pictures & videos are way better in details & quality than the stock xiaomi selfie app. Rear cam however I use the stock Xiaomi camera app since they were good. Two days back, my phone got upgraded to Hyper OS & love the smoothness of the OS. Not being in China & phone not rooted or unlocked, all my banking apps worked with the Chinese rom. As for Xiaomi 14 series, I'll wait for the 14 Ultra to see if it's worth upgrading or just skip to 15/16 ultra.

It is also listed in the US so I don't think there's anything stopping them from doing business there? I think most Chinese brands aren't that bothered by the US market ecause it's too hard to crack the Iphones dominance. Probably not worth the investment if they only expect to capture a very small percentage of the market. Also, many of the Chinese companies are more focused on the relatively large Asian economies like India and Indonesia where there is significant growth potential and a better chance of capturing a larger share of the market. Apple is not nearly so dominant in Europe as well (compared to the US) so there is a better chance of cracking Europe too. Huawei had a pretty large market share in Europe before the US ban and basically Xiaomi kind of took over from them after the restrictions on Huawei.

Xiaomi's been seriously costing down on the international market. Budget devices with low specs sold at midrange prices as sloppy rebranded seconds from China's higher specced (in all aspects not just chipset), and exclusive, variations of the same, which are not any more expensive even adding import VAT.

Sad but understandable. Way too different and may cost more than their old pricing. Still I hope they could launch outside of China and with the Ultra at helm as well.
