A34 is comparable to best selling A54 model if you avoid the notch.

Ocramavaf, 25 Dec 2023Calling the S23FE a winner is a bit of an over reach imho, ... moreIt's Samsung marketing at work. Pretty much most Youtubers and reviewers are "praising" the S23FE and A54, making up positive stuff just so they can say nice things about it (and to continue getting free review units). It's sad how they can still say nice things to these bulky inefficient phones with worse bezel.

Shahar , 25 Dec 2023I completely disagree with the article, to my mind the s23 ... moreThe S23 is arguably the best S lineup Samsung has ever released. If you're in an Exynos region, better grab the S23 while you can before Samsung pull them out from inventory when they release the S24, leaving you with only Exynos on both the S23FE and S24.

Samsung is putting nearly all their eggs on foldables now. That's where their innovations will be, ie water resistance on a foldable, and software. Their regular slab phones have been relegated to low cost ODM, as shown by the A54 and S23FE where they are bulkier and have more bezels than Samsung's own older phones, a regression of tech.

It continues to the S series, with only the Ultra will be the showcase for camera improvements, while the res of the lineup are simply using the same parts as last gen, only changing the SoC.

Can't blame Samsung though. We are at peak smartphone. For the regular smartphone tasks, even an SD695 or Helio G99 are more than enough CPU wise. And 6nm and smaller, efficiency is good enough for whole day battery life for most people. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

The author lives in an alternative universe where S23/+ is a loser but S23FE is a winner. Funny.

I've been a fan/user of Xiaomi since the Google ban on Huawei but this year I've bought S21Fe and S23Ultra and I've been hugely impressed by both in particular the S23Ultra and while I still have the Redmi Note12 Pro+ the S23Ultra is my daily phone and without doubt is the best Smartphone of 2023. Battery, Camera and Smart Lock Features are fantastic and I'm delighted to have made the switch.

S23FE is a big loser. Without the huge discount in US it is overpriced almost everywhere else in the world. A good phone doesn't need a discount right after release.
S23 and S23+ are the winners, finally using snapdragon chipset built on tsmc node, offering excellent performance and efficiency. No wonder they outsold S22 series by 22%

I completely disagree with the article, to my mind the s23 lineup is much better than the Exynos ridden A54 and S23FE. Especially in the near future when the S23 prices keep dropping.

Calling the S23FE a winner is a bit of an over reach imho, I mean for half the people around the price just does not make sense considering how late in the year it released and the S24 series is just behind the corner and the prices of the S23 and S23+ which you can already find at prices at or below S23FE (in Europe and the Exynos nations)

So many winners in the list that I suppose the author felt compelled to pick a loser in the S23/23+, but they made significant improvements in chip performance and battery life. It seems a bit much of a stretch to call it a loser.
