It's probably going to hit the European market pretty soon.

Why so big display? I have Xcover 5, with 5'' display and it's more than you need. Rugged should mean, it's durable, strong and with big battery, not big screen. If you need big screen, buy a tablet or laptop.

In the EU it has been available to the public since the release date. I know, because that is when I ordered mine (got it early July 2022). I almost went with Samsung directly, but the bigger tech sites had it as well, with less markup.

I went to buy one, and they were not for sale from Samsungs website. I could buy them from a carrier, but it had a markup and limited stock. If I ordered from the carrier, like x10 units using a Business Number, they would procure the stock, give a discount, and express it to me. Amazon didn't have it, only third-party sellers. eBay was the better alternative, but this would be now considered "grey market" and they all had a +20% price markup from the already high RRP.

Only months later, is it true what you have said. For the most part, this was Unobtainium unless you paid S23 Ultra prices, OR you bulk ordered from their enterprise sector. This is a phone that is great, perhaps their best phone, and Samsung does NOT want to sell it. This is NOT for consumers, this is a long-term device for businesses. If you recall, Samsung was pretty fast in discontinuing their other "great" device, which was the Samsung A52S.

There was only two things holding me from getting the xCover 6 Pro:
      - it wasn't much of an upgrade over my current phone (which still works okay)
      - it couldn't fit inside the case for Pocket Console (using the Razer JungleCat)

...but my next purchase looks like it might be the Samsung S24+ which does become a pocketable gaming system. But it robs me of the User Removable Battery, microSD slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, IrDa blaster, FM Radio, and other features we used to enjoy back in 2016 or 2014.

CAVBR, 30 Dec 2023Just like the XCover 5 was a rugged Galaxy A21s/Galaxy A12.Xcover usually has a removable battery but that isn't true of Galaxy A21s or Galaxy A12.

          ElCachorro, 23 Dec 2023A rugged A14/A15 5g from Samsung.Just like the XCover 5 was a rugged Galaxy A21s/Galaxy A12.

I've never understood the appeal of a rugged phone. Wouldn't a rugged case and a screen protector on a normal get the same results (except water resistance) without sacrificing cameras and performance which is generally the case?

I would agree though that Samsung's advertising for the phone has been corporate-centric, leading to many consumers mistakenly assuming they cannot buy it or even being completely unaware of the device.

I wonder if that is how Samsung wants it. They probably do prefer consumers to buy consumer phones, but if some people are interested in this type of device, Samsung will not say no to their money.

The xCover 6 Pro is legendary.
When we had the likes of QC 8g1 and Exynos 2200, that phone was keeping up with the flagships. Maybe not in pseudo benchmarks that measure theoretical performance, but in real-world and practical use it was basically a flagship experience.

And it did all of that with great battery life, stupendous build quality, IP68 Waterproofing AND a User Removable Battery. Not to mention it has a great screen which will not suffer from burn-in like the flagships. It's camera was "okay" and what people weren't too pleased by. But truthfully the biggest issue with the Samsung xCover 6 Pro was the limited availability (not for public, it was for enterprise sales).

The next best thing was the Samsung A52-S. And beside that, there aren't many devices that didn't artificially compromise the experience for more corporate profits. The ASUS ZenFone 9 was pretty good, as well as the Sony Xperia 5 devices. But it's really hard to find a phone that offers you the lot + kitchen sink, the last phone that did that was in Late 2014 in Samsung Note 4-Exynos... or it was in early 2016 with the Samsung S7+, or it was the ZTE Axon 7. The 2017 devices were slightly more expensive with slightly less features, and that corporate trend has since continued. The lowest point was probably in 2022, but 2023 wasn't much better, and 2024 isn't looking too promising either.

A rugged cover will not make your hardware shock proof. True it can absorb the hit, but what about the hardware, will it survive 2, 3, 4 falls from 1.5m?

This looks more like a replacement for Galaxy XCover5 instead of Galaxy XCover6 Pro. After all, the XCover5 is sold around the €300 to €350 mark.

But yeah don't expect much when it comes to multitasking.

Well, in a way you are right, this phone isn't for me, as I have no need for a rugged phone, but there are already way better rugged phones than this for those who need them. Recently launched Ulefone Armor 23 Ultra around 500 usd mops the floor with this as many times as it wants to. This phone is rumored to cost less than 440 usd, to which I say naturally, as it should, but that could mean 200 usd, or 439 usd. Between 200-300 usd I'd say it could be a good deal, but any more than that is simply too much for any phone with the Dimensity 6100+.
