Still so much that stops me even considering a Pixel:
Tensor performance, poor efficiency and throttling.
Poor battery life compared to competitors.
Features geographically restricted.
Slow charging.
Software is actually quite basic and not as feature rich as other UIs.

Tensor G4 won't fix anything... it's basically just the G3 again

You guys call the pixel fold a winner but still haven't reviewed it. When are we getting a pixel fold review?

Does the author of this article not know that smartwatches are physically too small to implement the Qi standard? If you prefer a proprietary wireless charging method, that's one thing, but be honest about it. As it stands now, the pogo pins come with the significant advantage of also allowing data transfer over USB, something that was previously only possible with a kludgy adapter Google had to seed to you, and so I would strongly prefer them for future smartwatches.

Not a fan of Google in general, rather sceptical about it, but I have to admit the Pixel line matured over the years, selling much better than ever before. The Pixel 8 series is a deserved winner.

Anonymous, 26 Dec 2023Pixel Fold is garbage. WTF?I love Google Pixel phones but even I have to agree with you. The Google Pixel Fold is just garbage compared to other foldables, especially with the release of the OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3 and the Honor Magic V2.

I agree with others about the Pixel series being losers. The battery life of the Pixel 8 is poor for a flagship. My 6a has better endurance. Compared to others, Pixels have better cameras and software support going for them. It's hard to ignore these benefits.

„That means Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will be eligible for up to 7 Android OS updates – that’s Android 21 or whatever it ends up being called in 2030.“
Google will have to prove they go through with this, but it’s crazy to think that this could mean the Pixel 8 will be relevant until like 2037. This is considering the modular architecture of Android and that many apps still support very old versions like somewhere between 6 to 10. In contrast, app support on iOS starts to fade after about 3 years generally. Of course it’s unlikely many people will use the Pixel 8 in 2037, but as a secondary device or just for nostalgia from 1.5 decades ago it will be nice to be fully supported at that point. And I hope Apple does something about their support too, for example they could start by not dropping the iPhone XR with iOS 18 and match what they achieved years ago with 7 years of major updates on the iPhone 6s.

Mills, 26 Dec 2023Google and Samsung are in a contract until 2025. As soon as... moreI highly doubt the story google is gonna design the tensynos from 5th gen.
This is very expensive and google phone business is small. It is not worth from financial point of view.
Exactly reason oppo killed marisilicon camera chips.
Would be much easier and financially better to stick with crappynos. It costs less than 1/3 of snapdragon. In-house would never be that cheap

Google and Samsung are in a contract until 2025. As soon as 2025 comes up, Google may switch to whoever they like. Perhaps SMIC? Apple took all the 3nm fabbing jobs. SD 8 Gen 3, despite on 4nm, does wonders against A17 and D9300. Let's see how G4 compares against SD 8+ G1

P8 is huge loser.
- Battery endurance is too low for device with 1080p display and almost 4600mAh. Should have score 100h at least.
- garbage Exynos
- takes worse photos than 7a, cant do better than few other that use smaller cameras.
It should be smaller version of 8 Pro, not weaker. By doing this, google kills purpose of A series bevause when they announce 8a, the 8 will be found for $500, price of 8a.
