New displays, bigger batteries and a brand new chipset, though that last one might not be an upgrade.

      Yeah sure, yet they rave about Samsung's software support and how much better it is than what the rest of the android brands offer.

      Exactly what I said, they are everywhere, other brands aren't. They are always the easiest choice, not really much of a choice most of the time tbh.

        Apple and Samsung are selling due to brand recognition(and marketing).
        Samsung was selling a lot even back in the (laggy)Touchwiz days when they offered just 2major OS updates.
        Same story with Huawei before the ban. People werent buying Huawei because of the software support or worldwide release.
        They were buying because of the brand Huawei had as well as their very good cameras.

        So at the end of the day, only people in forums/sites like gsmarena care so much about charging speeds.

Most people buy Apple and Samsung phones over others because they are sold everywhere, in every country and at every carrier, and their software support is clearly superior which matters very little given that most people change their phones in 2-3 years.

          Not to mention that because of Apple and Samsung are still using slow charging, most people still believe that fast charging destroys the phone's battery, and that batteries and charging technologies haven't improved in the past 5-6 years, when they clearly have.

              Then again they publish news that are interested in that moment of time.
              Usually is like this, in late winter or early spring is all about Samsung, autumn is all about iPhones.
              Also, many people who have a smartphone, have either a Samsung or iPhone. So, is kind of normal that more news about these two brands appear on this site. And on other sites too.

It makes sense though as they are the most globally available two and therefore they get more hits generating more ad revenue. You don't have to read the articles Samsung if you don't want to. Of course they are going to give a lot of coverage to their launch as it is a major global launch.
                      Don't worry though. Xiaomi's global flagship launch will also get lots of coverage here when the time comes. I suspect though you won't be moaning about that!

                            really wanted to swap my phone this year owning a s10, probably going with the s23+ at this point, i really hoped the s24+ had the snapdragon...i assume s23 sales didnt improve enough with the snapdragon to make it worth economically for samsung, or something like that

                                Because of this we always have to expect it like this.

                                  Different variant chipset cannot be same. Either qualcomm will be better or Exynos will be better. Giving same money but getting less is not forgivable in this price range.

                                    We need to convince Apple to increase charging speeds so Samsung can follow suit.
