AnonD-1138975, 08 Jan 2024Well, now I am hearing about this. I checked online for i... more"OnePlus has apologized for the inconvenience and offered free screen replacement and upgrade discounts for the affected users. The green line issue has been reported by many OnePlus users across different models, including the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R."

You left out the part this doesnt apply to all countries. Oneplus in my country Malaysia for example, never acknowledged the line display issue so they didnt offer such compensation. And if you read more, the compensation campaign above only available for a short period of time. Once the period is over, Oneplus will not entertain any more warranty claim for display line issue.

Look, I get it Xiaomi has entered your 'no buy list' for allegedly giving fake charger and similarly Oneplus has entered my no list for poor software quality control. Interestingly, my experience with Xiaomi and Poco products has been overall positive. I never encountered this fake charger issue myself or among my circle of family and friends. I never read about anyone here in Malaysia complain they received fake charger. So please forgive me if i am skeptical about this "Xiaomi give fake charger" story.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2024Talking about Oneplus, I used Oneplus 9 for a while before ... moreWell, now I am hearing about this.
I checked online for it, and you are right, with the problem, but you are not right with the part OnePlus never acknowledged the problem.

"OnePlus has apologized for the inconvenience and offered free screen replacement and upgrade discounts for the affected users. The green line issue has been reported by many OnePlus users across different models, including the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R."

Smartphones, like any other product on this planet is susceptible to hardware or software failure. They are not indestructible. But, if the manufacturer acknowledges the problem and is trying to solve the issue in some way (if it's the manufacturer fault of course), that is a positive thing in my book.

The problem comes, like it was my case with the Poco F5 and Xiaomi, when they lie about certain features or they just pack fake accessories with their phones. Because, at this point, is clear for me, one of this two things happened. And the fact that I am not the only one, makes this even worse. That means Xiaomi did this on purpose with certain models. Maybe they just want people to buy their good 67W chargers separately, who knows.

Initially I suspected the phone being some Chinese "fake" variant, because I was on September security patch and Android 13 in January 2024, even though many people in European countries received Android 14 and Hyper OS since December. But, I bought the phone new from trusted store in European country.
So, in the end, I had two opinions. Either Xiaomi limited some models to charge with maximum 33W, or the most likely scenario, they packed fake 67W chargers in the box with some models, that function as Xiaomi 33W chargers.

AnonD-1138975, 08 Jan 2024Just google "Poco F5 not charging with 67W". And ... moreTalking about Oneplus, I used Oneplus 9 for a while before selling it to a friend. I didnt update the phone to OxygenOS 13 even though its available bcos i read about phones getting display lines after updating. I warned the friend to update at his own risk.

He didnt listen and updated the phone the day he got it. Lo and behold, the phone now got 2 green lines running across the screen. You can find a lot of forums talking about Oneplus phones getting lines after update bcos it is a common issue. Oneplus denied its their fault and basically just blame users for damaging their phones.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 202420 to 90% in 50 minutes is still faster than what i can get... moreJust google "Poco F5 not charging with 67W". And you will find there some case scenarios.
Mine was similar with the guy from xdaforums.

I had in past Xiaomi phone with 67W charger, I think it was Xiaomi 11T and when I connected the charger initially it will say something like "super fast charging 67W" and it will be from 20-90% in about 25 minutes.

I had also some Redmi models who charged with 33W charger maximum and initially it will say something like "turbo charge and nothing else". And it will be around 60 minutes for full charge.

On my Poco F5 it said the same, just turbo charge and no 67W. So, this was first sign to me that something is wrong. Then when I counted the time too, and saw similar times with a 33W Xiaomi charger, I got very suspicious and entered online. When I saw multiple cases like this, I immediately returned the phone, as it was still in the 14 days time that I could return it.
Of course, I could have gone and bought a separate 67W charger and cable original from Xiaomi, and do more tests (to see if it's the phone or charger), but why I should have to do this with my own money?
The only test I've done is downloading an app, called electron that shows you status and info about battery, charging, etc. and there I saw 30W charging speeds maximum. Of course, even in this case I am not sure if it was the charger or software limitation from Xiaomi (which will be even worse, because they are selling something that is not true).

So, for me no more Xiaomi phones in future. This includes Redmi and Poco as well. I could include Motorola phones here too. I had some bad experiences with software support on mid-range Motorola phones.

Samsung and OnePlus are best. I could even try Pixel phones, even though I read a lot of bad things about them too.

September, lol, for a phone released in 2023. And I was still on Android 13, MiUi 14.0.9 global, in Czechia.
The reason I returned it, was other actually. The phone came with 67W charger in the box, but I suspect charger was fake one, because phone was charging with 30W maximum speed.

I entered online after this and the problem is actually more frequently than I fought with this model. It looks like Xiaomi packed fake 67W chargers that charge as 30W Xiaomi chargers. Or they did something in the software of Poco F5 (some of them at least), to charge only with maximum 30W speed.
I used also electron app, and I got this result (30W maximum charging speeds). My Poco F5 charged from 20% to around 90% in 50 minutes, lol. With "67W charger".

Xiaomi or Poco phones never again for me. I will not trust this company ever again for this.

Be careful guys because there are some bugs. On Xiaomi 12T after the update to HyperOs some screens don't have the paper texture of the reading display mode. It makes user experience very inconsistent... Waiting for Xiaomi to fix this.

I don't think that HyperOS is a better name compared to MIUI. Not a worse name either.
The only advantage by calling it OS is that Xiaomi may develop a 'real' OS without changing the name. (But I doubt they will)
