Even if they don't make technology themselves they are usually the first ones to take the risks with the tech
Look at Sony they can't even make the best of their own sensors SMH
Meanwhile Samsung and apple are complacent

Google doesn't care at all, can't buy any Pixel officially here. Apple is priced like gold, comparable Samsung phones similarly to Apple. Xiaomi has a fairly good presence here in Poland, though my observation is their top-of-the-shelf models are late to the party, 14T Pro is not even listed on their site here, despite being available for over 2 months now. And prices for the top models are comparable with S23 Ultra so I'm afraid when they punch in the same weight division, people rather gravitate towards known Samsung and sleep well. Only when price is lower, are they keen on giving Chinese brands a shot, which their perception of Chinese brands was for a while now - that they offer just as much as Sammy, but for lower price. When price is comparable, it shifts.
Oppo has some basic models and Find N2 Flip, forget about book-style Find N3.
I can go on and go on, but the point is: we could all, globally, use some healthy competition. Samsung did give a damn when Huawei was breathing down their neck, ever since the ban, they somewhat seem to have slowed down to a near-halt, with the exception of foldable technology in which they invested a lot.

I'm definitely disappointed that a very small number of companies apart from Samsung and Apple are releasing their flagships in my country, too. OnePlus still does (although the future is certain from the OP12 onwards) but Xiaomi and Oppo stopped selling a proper flagship entirely where I live. Quite frankly speaking, it's tragic that I see reviews of all those great phones on a review site like GSMArena, yet I can realistically get iPhones and Galaxy only, while the rest would need to be parallel-imported if I ever wanted one. Such a shame.

I think around 20 fps with eye AF and AE with full 12mp for almost infinity until memory is full.
Samsung for example, use heavy processing so that 5 second after capture that phone still not done processing

They do seem to know ( or pretend) brands do market research to decide what is viable and what is not

Could be plenty or reasons for not use the same sensor: lack of availability, slow production or delivery, higher costs to deliver sensors from different parts of the world, marketing (keep something better for next year), too hard to align the sensor outcome with other ones etc.
Of you look at the raw price, the difference could be 20$ which is nothing at this level.
