This one, however, has the traditional fixed-lens periscope camera systems, but there are two of them, offering two different focal lengths for greater reach.

Truth is, my disappointment in seeing this only release in China is worth nothing to these companies, even if it meant that with availability in EU, I would seriously consider one.
Which is why I think I can thrown that blind jab in their general direction and not worry too much about accuracy or consequences, because neither side (Chinese or their market-leading non-Chinese competitors like Samsung or Apple) listens to what - let's be frank here - vocal, but marginally small GSMArena audience has to say ;-)

Good catch, but still they don't care =)

Also, your claim about the headphone jack and expandable storage is utter bullsh**. The microSD card is essential to easily expand storage specially if you actually want to take advantage of the camera hardware (RAW, 4K and 8K recording, etc). And the headphone jack provides superior audio quality and allows to connect high quality audio equipment, to, again, take advantage of the rest of the hardware.

You only consider it "useless" because Apple told you too and most (not all) Android OEMs stupidly followed suit to CUT COSTS and maximise profits. If you think they removed features for "structural integrity" or "space" or "courage", you're just a fool.

How will it be with satellite communication? Does every X7 ultra have it? What color do you like the most? I honestly liked the X6 pro Light Brown design more than the X7 ultra variant. I'm starting to think about the X7 ultra black..

Well, not all of them ;-)

I'm actually glad that they kept the sensor size for the 2.8x periscope lens from X6 Pro - A telephoto camera with a type 1/1.56" sensor and a large F2.6 aperture was its key selling point and it continues to be a strength on X7 Ultra. With that said, it definitely sucks that the UWA camera has 23% less light gathering compared to last year, and the added second periscope doesn't seem to be that impressive from the pure hardware standpoint (F4.3 at 135mm).

I'm curious to see if this will receive the same amazing software post-processing from Find N3, or if it will be stuck with the older, slightly less refined version from Find X6 Pro. I'm also looking forward to seeing what the new "RAW MAX" mode does, hopefully it's a further improved version of Raw+ which is essentially Oppo's implementation of multi-frame RAW.

David, 08 Jan 2024Oh the irony that Sony make some of the best sensors on ear... moreFrom gsmarena

The main camera saves 12MP binned photos, and those are among the best we've seen from a smartphone. Alright, we have written that a bunch of times in the past few months as we have reviewed some of the best cameraphones on the market. And yet it's also valid for the Xperia 1 V and its camera(s), even if it doesn't have a 1"-type sensor.

The daylight samples we took with the Xperia 1 V offer abundant detail, even in the extreme corners, and there is no visible noise. The white balance is spot-on across all scenes, and the colors are accurate.

The dynamic range is very good, though on some of the photos, the contrast could be higher. On these photos (the first image below for instance, and a few others), the highlights appear pushed down and not as bright as they could be. A quick look at the histogram confirms this. It's not related to the new sensor, because it's also visible on the ultra-wide camera as well.

Still, Sony's mature image processing deserves huge praise - everything is rendered in a very natural way, especially the fine, intricate details. There is no over-sharpening, unnaturally popping colors, or unrealistic dynamic range.

The ultrawide camera (12MP, large 1.4µm pixels) and photo quality are identical to the Xperia 1 IV's. The 12MP photos from this imager offer plenty of detail, excellent sharpness, and proficient noise reduction. The white balance and the color rendition are consistently accurate.

The contrast is high in most photos, except the ones where the highlights oddly are suppressed (look again at the first image but also a few others).

Sony's processing is evident on the ultrawide camera, too, as everything, from foliage to buildings and cars, looks true to life. Even the most demanding scenes gave us lovely photos. Oh, and the extreme corners are also processed and straightened out very well.

Imx888 has 90% of light sensitivity of imx989, while using much less space, less energy, generates less heat and avoid fugly bump.

Limerain, 08 Jan 2024Why use a smaller ultrawide sensor than on the X6 Pro???That's because, it's tough put a very wide lens (more than 120° wide angle) with a bigger sensor. For example, Find X6 pro, Find X5 pro &Huawei Mate 30 pro. That's the reason almost every company using a smaller sensor with Wide angle camera.

Yet again the 3x is fake (2.8 like x6)
And the announced 6x (was meant to be 5.6 right?)
                                    Don't get fooled!
