They don't do it for the same reason why Samsung's smartphone division put almost zero effort into the Chinese market (except for the foldables) - It's simply not profitable. Oppo, for instance, sells a bunch of mid-rangers and Find N3 where I live even though they haven't launched a single phone from the main X6 series here yet.

BMHater12, 08 Jan 2024Will it zoom through the milky way galaxy? The most important specs for the tele capabilities are: pixels per angle (which depends on whether pixel binning is used), effective lens diameter and color filter array.

Here is a list with the relative maximum number of pixels per angle of certain cameras (approximately). I don't know the exact focal length of the Oppo Find X7 Ultra, but it should be approximately 22.3mm.

161978% Extremely Large Telescope in the visible spectrum (not built yet)
25917% Hubble Space Telescope from 2002 till January 2007
      1254% Nikon P1000 B
      338% Panasonic Zs80D B
      115% Samsung Galaxy K Zoom B
100% Oppo Find X7 Ultra QB
      87% Xiaomi 13 Ultra QB
85% Google Pixel 7 Pro QB
81% Google Pixel 8 Pro QB
      79% Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra B
      76% Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra B
      74% Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ B
74% BBK Vivo X100 Pro QB
      65% Huawei P60 Pro QBY
60% BBK Oppo Find N3 QB
      44% Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max B
      37% Google Pixel 6 Pro B*
      37% Huawei P30 Pro B
      37% Google Pixel Fold B
      32% Asus Zenfone Zoom B
      28% Apple iPhone 15 Pro B
      21% Apple iPhone 7 Plus B
      19% Apple iPhone 15 QB
      17% Nokia Lumia 1020 B
      9% Apple iPhone 14 B

      B= Bayer color filter array
QB= Quad Bayer color filter array (apparently without Quad Pixel autofocus), can produce worse results than Bayer, when the number of pixels per angle is the same, but the difference might be neglectable, if the lens isn't very sharp
QBY= Quad Bayer color filter array with yellow pixels and apparently without Quad Pixel autofocus
B*= The Pixel 6 Pro actually has a value of 75% QB, but in contrast to the 7 Pro and 8 Pro, it always uses pixel binning, which leads to 37% B. Possibly, there are other phones in this list with the same behavior (then the value would be only half as high)

And here is a list with the corresponding maximum effective diameter of the objective:

39300mm Extremely Large Telescope (not built yet)
      2400mm Hubble Space Telescope
      67.4mm Nikon P1000
      20.2mm Panasonic Zs80D
      6.98mm Samsung Galaxy K Zoom
      6.93mm Huawei P60 Pro
      6.63mm BBK Vivo X100 Pro
      6.53mm Huawei Mate 40 Pro+
      6.47mm Xiaomi 13 Ultra
      6.43mm Google Pixel 8 Pro
      6.24mm Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
5.91mm BBK Oppo Find X6 Pro
5.59mm Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max
      5.55mm Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
      5.43mm Google Pixel 7 Pro
5.18mm(approximately) BBK Oppo Find X7 Ultra
      5.18mm Sony Xperia 1 V
      5.12mm BBK Oppo Find N3
      4.25mm Huawei P30 Pro
      3.21mm Apple iPhone 15 Pro
      2.4mm Asus Zenfone Zoom

A low value leads to less light per exposure time from distant objects.
A low value also makes distant objects look blurry due to diffraction, but this is only noticeable, if other factors (for example low number of pixels per angle)
don't already make a distant object look blurry. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro has a low number of pixels per angle. This already makes distant objects (for example the moon) so blurry that one doesn't really notice the blurriness that is caused by the small diameter.

So, the Oppo Find X7 Ultra has the best number of pixels per angle (apart from the Galaxy K Zoom and Galaxy S4 Zoom) on the smartphone market, but the effective diameter of the 135mm camera isn't superb and this will affect the sharpness at 270mm due to diffraction.

Limerain, 08 Jan 2024Why use a smaller ultrawide sensor than on the X6 Pro???Newer Sony sensors take in more light at smaller sizes. Probably better than X6 pro.

The biggest innovation would a variable aperture 10x periscope with a continuous zoom.
This way we wouldn't need to have 3 different cameras just to zoom.

Newer Sony sensors take in more light at smaller sizes. Probably better than X6 pro.

Oh the irony that Sony make some of the best sensors on earth yet their own phones always come low down on the image quality tests. Literally the worst cameras on a flagship especially given the price. Why doesn’t the 1V have this setup?!

I just hope this time it'll go global. Not having the Find X6 Pro be global was a weird move that hasn't been done by Oppo for a long time. It's gonna cost more for sure but it's better than leaving out the best in a place no one could take without warranty issues.

They said its priced too high even for China, its around $1000 equivalent for specs that other companies would charge atleast $1400 for the base config and about $1600 for max config.

Whats global pricing or release got to do with that direct statement or the s24u being released this month globally? We still know its sale price with worse specs is more than $1000 equivalent where ever you go.

                        Joke:
Sony with the same 1-inch sensor never have same quality pics from their phones. The always lose vs Samsung, Apple, Huawei and maybe this time Oppo, Vivo.
                        Why Sony, why ?!

For me, ~100mmm (4x) on the Vivo is a bit too long. Also ultrawide is not that good on the paper. But I will wait for some in-depth reviews of both and comparisons. I want to switch from S23 Ultra, and I know that I will not pick S24U, as I just cannot stand Samsung over processing and using for shooting GCAM, which is not an ideal situation.

DBS, 08 Jan 2024The camera set up is definitely intriguing, although I pers... moreMy find x5 uses the imx 766 for its main and UW which has been used as the main sensor for many top quality picture taking phones (huawei p50 did didn't it and that was the best camera phone at the time of release) so no that statement is false, they arent all samsung and apple.

On the renders (if true) it looks like it has a camera button, volume rocker and power button on the right, another button on the left (probably hotkey, i mean the volume buttons can be used as a capture button you know?). Also the no jack, no sd card applies to what, 99% of all devices now and I'd rather better other internals and features than the 2 most useless features on a phone in this day and age which does affect the rigidity and internal parts placement.
