unfortunately Sony like all Japanese companies is ruled by literal 60+ years olds detached from the modern world so they won't ever gain back market share especially among the young

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2024This is China where there's a lot of people upgrading ... moreI am not making any excuses, I care less about a company or another, I care about my own pockets.
I am just putting my opinion in here. And I know a lot of people with iPhones, none of them are changing their iPhones less than 2-4 years apart. And they would have money to do it each year. I had some iPhone in past too, but I always bought them second hand, older models, not new ones. So, I am not considering me in this situation.
Of course, I live in European country, so it could be differently in other regions (like China or India), but I doubt that it will be 180 degrees differently.

It seems Japan loves everything which is American, and this is a problem, because they don't really support their own brand. Back in 2007, 2008 there where around 8, 9 companies which made phones( mostly in Japan) can you imagine? Even Casio has had phones, and Hitachi! After Iphone entered to Japan, things have changes quickly. Now, there are only a few manufacturers remained in Japan.

Did you conveniently forget the continuous rising iPhone sales up till IP15 launch a few months ago and are now making excuses for this dismal number? I hope this continues before Apple does something shady and make cheap stuff like type C usb ports become overpriced because muh Apple certification/premium etc.

Apple has a big big problem in China (the biggest smartphone market in the world) and this involves politics and what the US did to Huawei, involves Taiwan etc it's kind of a payback time! let's see how this unfolds.

Is kind of normal, people in developing countries don't change their phones each year, not even each 2 years.
You can easily use an iPhone 12 series model in 2024 and is actually quite speedy and very good cameras, display and speakers. And those are 3 years old models with another 2-3 years of software support ahead.
Imagine the average person who bought these models, didn't bought any iPhone 13, 14 or 15 iPhones. So, that is why the sales are not increasing year on year.
