Unn, 10 Jan 2024Would be great if it's snapdragon 845-870 The previous XCover 5 had Exynos 850 with eMMC. Clearly this lineup is not designed for flagship performance. My guess is either Snapdragon 695, or Dimensity 6100.

safin asa, 10 Jan 2024A 8" inch Tablet is way too compact to be called a tablet. The amount of bezel this thing have is why it's a tablet. Without that bezel it would fit 10 inch in for sure

Why not buy an old-er tablet or smartphone and put a rugged case on it? The screens will still crack, no matter what, a case you can switch every time you damage it...I will never understand rugged smartphones or tablets.

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2024Can someone tell me why the "No Battery Mode" doe... moreIt would actually require changes to the power circuitry in a lot of cases. Lots of cheaper devices are set up to only get power from the battery, while this would inherently require the battery to be able to be bypassed. This can also reduce battery cycles even with a battery installed, which is another issue with the aforementioned lower end devices.

The option to run without a battery is great, I have seen many tablets on the internet that are used for such kiosk purposes having a bloated battery and bulging the screen up like 3x thicker compared to the entire tablet.

Can someone tell me why the "No Battery Mode" doesn't exist as a baked in feature on every device? I can't imagine it taking more than a few lines of code in the kernel or BIOS or whatever, and would greatly increase longevity. And if no-one wants to use it, then they don't have to. Am I understating things?

"the phone takes microSD cards. Other highlights include a 3.5 mm audio jack"
Wow I thought both features were dead and buried, same as "active" lineup (I think there was S7 active, for one). Nice to see these features making a comeback. Now, if Samsung made a flagship-level phone with S24 hardware but "xcover" rugged body with a headphone jack and removeable battery, it'd be awesome.

Galaxy Tab Active5 Looks excellent.
hopefully get a higher spec version for that.
going outdoor would need Wide Camera + OiS for night mode
and wanted it to be 512gb.
the form and shape is desirable to me, especially it also comes with removable battery, 5G telephony + Pen.
wow!
