SizN80, 16 Jan 2024Well done Apple. 👏 This was bound to happen, for a long ... moreWhat the android gimmicks apple take? Took how long for them to get AoD screen, ray tracing cores, the camera island, 5g, wifi 6 and 7, emergancy satellite messaging (huawei was 1st), quad bayer cam set ups, periscope telephoto... They were even last to using their own tech, an LTPO screen, finally have widget use, we could keep going (i mean most the parts in an iphone are made by android using companies like sony and samsung). Oh and its a china company made battery in it, still years behind even low end android phones for charging and cant guarantee 1600 charges can they?

Dont get me wrong, iphones are great devices and a very solid ecosystem but to think android phones use gimmicks then iPhone is the mascot for it then or mostly a copycat of a lot main use features and im glad they did, makes phones a bit more fun to use as efficient (if you think phones lag up and stuff then i dont know what you're using, iphones feel slow compared to my find x5 when i use my mates iphones).

" Just like competing analyst house Canalys revealed a few hours ago, IDC is now out with its own report and confirming the once-in-more-than-a-decade news: Apple took the crown away from Samsung in 2023.

According to IDC estimates, the Cupertino company shipped 234.6 million smartphones last year, for a market share of 20.1%, while Samsung only managed 226.6 million shipments taking 19.4% of the pie."

It's just sales data, almost no one here is a shareholder in any of the companies, there's no need to fight.

That said, especially from the iPhone 11 onwards, Apple reached a satisfactory overall cell phone level (including battery).
Samsung also has great devices, but it has had its ups and downs in recent years, largely due to Exynos and displays with green line, I had the S10 Lite (Snapdragon), S20 FE (Snapdragon), S22 (Snapdragon) and they were great phones , but I also had an S21 (Exynos) and replaced it prematurely, as it had a lot of hiccups, heating and finally, the f** green line.

Furthermore, here in Brazil, the last iPhone costs more than R$6k (a Galaxy S23 currently costs R$3k) and has become social status, people buy 24x installments, even iPhones from previous generations to have this "status" while the minimum wage here is R$1,4k.

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2024Check that graph for q1 to q4 and figure out yourself. Whet... moreYou said the sales were low for all other Q and i said you can't sell most phones for the whole year if the sales are high only for one Q. Apple sold really well every Q last year while Samsung sales were low every Q and that's why Apple is now number one, deal with it 😉 i know it's not easy to accept for you, but that's how it is now. People are crazy about iPhone and it shows every year better and better.

SizN80, 16 Jan 2024Well done Apple. 👏 This was bound to happen, for a long ... more"Unfortunately the Android gimmicks are not enough for consumers to overlook Android stutter, lag and overall poor software performance.🙂"
This statement contains so much false information it's downright stupid.

First of all - apples (no pun intended) and oranges when it comes to comparing closed hardware and software owned by one company having just a couple of smartphone models, with open hardware of many variations, as well as software of many variations which results in tens of manufacturers and hundreds of models. That means entry level phone models and top of the shelf models running the same OS. Top shelf that DOESN'T lag under Android. Not to mention how many models and manufacturers run Android. Too much variation to accurately describe OS performance with any level of credibility. Only a tech ignorant would spew out such nonsense while firmly believing it's representative of reality, while completely ignoring nuance and factual data.

Secondly - which Android gimmicks do you mean? Name one function that its existence and usability is debatable on Android that Apple doesn't have. Be specific, don't just blast out nonsensical, generic statements that have no informational value.

I'll do the same: Apple has a good credit of introducing smart and nice tech to the world. Some of their tech or software functions are what should be a standard everywhere. Smart switching between sources of sound when you get back at home - nice! Face recognition technology - still unbeatable.
But in other departments they lag so far behind it's laughable. 60Hz display is ancient, no matter how much fluid animations are. Play the same animations at 120Hz display and you'll never go back to 60Hz, but they know better. USB-C adoption nearly a decade after a whole world has accepted it as standard is anti-consumer - period. Charging speeds are so slow it's inexcusable.
This, above, is a mark of unbiased statement - when one can objectively and with detail list pros and cons. Your statement is nothing but a wishful thinking of an uninformed tech ignorant.

Just a little...tad bit....wee small amount pathetic to see sheep-like customers treat a brand which keeps jacking their prices up YoY with little substantial to show, like it's their BestFriend (TM) and celebrate its success like they themselves have achieved something great in life with a strong round of self-back-patting.

If I was an Apple shareholder then yeah I would be pretty happy, but as a customer I just don't get this mentality. If Fruitarian CEO, C-Suits, boardmembers, investors, shareholders, benefactors get to purchase another brand new yacht, summer house, luxury cars, huge plots of land in any spot of their choosing because of their yearly profits...why should I honestly feel happy for them? Especially, as a common man, when I see my own bills increasing YoY while these fruit devices aren't getting any cheaper?

P.S. Before the mouth frothing issues, I just need to state that I'm typing this out from an old MacAir, with my iPhone 14 on the table besides me and a previous gen iPad kept for charging upstairs. I'm a customer, I value my own wallet. No hate here, just that sense of sadness and disgust at coonsumer people who don't know how to value themselves over a self-imposed delusion of their BestFriend (tm) trillion dollar ruthlessly profit driven company.
