Running 7 years without a single issue is not possible.
Saw plenty of fresh phones which after several updates were struggling with running google chrome for example or loading facebook 20 seconds.

So it's great news that there are more and more phone makers providing longer support.

It all about having the bigger number, 7 years of support though great to see is nothing more than a marketing tactic. This long support is all about Android competing with Apple in an area that has been lacking. Apple is now the worlds biggest phone maker.
