Izumiyamura, 19 Jan 2024I think it's pathetic that QHD panels on their Plus ph... moreEh, I'll take the battery life improvements of 1080p on the S+ series personally. Granted, you would expected more differentiation between the S and S+ line so it makes sense. Very likely the older S23+ outshines the S24+ by 10 - 15% in battery life though.

I think it's pathetic that QHD panels on their Plus phones have been missing since the S20 series (S21+ to S23+ didn't have it). Or that they haven't used 1220p displays. Heck, Apple went beyond 1080p+ once they committed to higher-res panels. Sure, most of the American android companies (plus Asus) stuck to 1080p, but I'm not talking about them here.

It only makes perfect sense that Samsung's base models are 1080p, Plus's are 1170 or 1220p, and the Ultras are 1440p.

High resolution displays was the one perfect selling point for Samsung. Chipset performance and camera software were false positives - due to throttling, UI, and their trivial noise reduction-heavy processing, like they were dead set to nerf the best parts of their devices.

I personally have an S23+, but I know lots of people who hate Samsung's duplicate apps and like the smooth, straightforward experience of the iOS. Of course, these people aren't tech enthusiasts and definitely don't visit GSMArena.

Apple lost its superior support. Now Samsung has equal support with many updates. But without joke limits that iOS has.

When they make a phone that will last me for 10 years, I'd gladly spend 1.000€+ on the phone. Until then, 450€ is maximum I'm willing to spend on a phone.

I can see the seven years of software support being applied to the Exynos SoC without much problem since that is Samsung's own SoC line, but I wonder if it also applies to the Snapdragon SoC. Unless the phone uses the enterprise IoT version of Snapdragon SoC as Fairphone did with the 5, Qualcomm only gives about four or five years of support for general consumer mobile SoC.
