Weekly poll: which of the Galaxy S24 trio will you get or will you pass?

21 January 2024
Samsung's big event this week was focused on AI but also brought a number of important hardware changes to its flagship series.

For a long time I didn't want to do anything with Samsung, I've got a S23 Ultra as a gift for my wife and I have been impressed by the form factor among other things. A screen really needs to be a right angle rectangle. My carrier offers nearly $1,100 trade-in for for my Pixel 8 Pro towards 24 Ultra which they priced it at $1,299. About $200 out of pocket is no brainier for a device like that.

None, I'm happy with the S23 Ultra.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2024I'll happily trade a bit of image quality for a full d... moreI'd happily trade 5-10% in image quality if it meant I could have a slightly larger sensor (sizes that would be too large for puncholes like 1/2.5"-type or 1/2.3"-type), and maybe even 2-layer stacked CMOS technology like Sony's new LYT sensors are using. I like UDC because it enables companies to potentially use larger sensors that can be better than if they were to use puncholes, and offset the downgraded image quality through that.

But most people care and you simply can't deny that the quality is pretty bad. Most people won't trade a good selfie punchole for a crappy udc just for the sake of having an interrupted display.

The punch hole is really an eyesore and it's time it can be done away with

None. Months ago I considered the S24 ultra assuming that it would make a leap forward in its cameras, but instead they have kept them all the same and the only one that has changed (5x instead of 10x) cannot necessarily be considered better. I also don't like its processing in general. It is too similar to the S23 ultra. I will opt for Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi in their pro plus/ultra versions.

If you have to buy a flagship (you don't), wait a couple of weeks for discounts. You're welcome.

None, i have base S23 and i'm pretty happy with it. I don't have a slight wish to change to S24, no one should have imo.

I love they went flat. Is closer and closer to the Nubia screen. Now they just need to remove the punch hole by using a UDC but i know people will be like: "Selfies will look bad waaah" 🙄
