Weekly poll: which of the Galaxy S24 trio will you get or will you pass?

21 January 2024
Samsung's big event this week was focused on AI but also brought a number of important hardware changes to its flagship series.

Got S23 Ultra last year. Given how new phone I have and how S24 doesn't have white model at all, I'll be waiting for couple of years to even consider new phone. And then we'll see. 7 years of software update is nice, but I still can't get over how incompetent and non existing their support is. It's just unforgivable for such a huge company with presence in every country of the world. The way how hard it is to even get in touch with their support because of terrible webpage and in the end they always seem to want to physically get device into service center even for software issues all other companies would resolve remotely by taking a detailed report and fix it without me having to bring it to service center is so absurd I'm now questioning if I ever want to buy another Samsung device. What good is 7 years of software updates if having issue with it anywhere in that 7 years means bunch of problems and being without device because they need it physically at service center for every stupid software glitch. I guess I'll be returning to mid rangers and just throwing them away after 2+ years.

Preordered the S24. I just want a phone that can fit in my hand properly. I didn't want a Pixel, and the 7 years of software updates sealed the deal for me; LTPO is just the golden cherry on top. Not even the extra RAM can convince me to get the S24 Plus, never mind the Ultra

I preordered S24 Ultra 1TB. Gonna upgrade from A34 to it.

The ultra is a 1500 phone now. Not worth it really

I'm going to buy the oneplus12 in the meantime... just waiting for it to be announced globally soon!! and the new oneplus watch with android wear and the new headphones too... samsung has nothing that catches my attention at the moment!!!

The S23 Ultra is already very wide at 78.1mm, and the S24 Ultra's 79mm width is just ridiculous and completely impossible to hold without hurting your hand. Samsung needs to do so much better.

I've already preordered the S24 Ultra, upgrading from the S21 Ultra.

I don't believe an S23 Ultra user, or any person who purchased a flagship smartphone in 2023 (such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Pixel 8 Pro, etc.), should consider buying the S24 Ultra. However, it's the perfect choice for me, coming from a three-year-old phone.

The choice between the Ultra ugly brick, or the other 2 models with Exynos chipsets is pretty hard, but I think I might have to pass on these.

Overall it's not comfortable at all to hold.

Anyway, I am planning to buy new phone somewhere around July-August. Until then S24 series will be lower priced.
But then, the new Fold 6 and Flip 6 will be released, and I will have more headache in which model I should pick, haha.
Maybe I will still find last year models (to buy them as new), with very nice prices. That will be best for me, I think.

That going to be a hard decision for me. I like the S24 Plus because of its size, better hold, and because it has a 1440P display. I like the S24 Ultra because of its bigger size. I’m not really much of a camera guy. As long as either phone takes better pictures than my iPhone 13.

Samsung phones still have too much bloatware and it's only getting worse with all these ai features no one asked for. I have no desire to own a Samsung phone until they fix that. "Disabling" apps is not good enough.

Mahmood Albraim, 21 Jan 2024None, I'm happy with the S23 Ultra. I went to Samsung today and got to play little with both S23U and S24U (Samsung still sells the S23U, but I don't know for how long).
Anyway, I like more the feel and comfort that the S23U gives. S24U feels rough on the edges for me, also harder to hold in hand. I don't know how to describe it exactly, I think you have to hold them both one after the other to really understand it.
Maybe with some cases on both of them, the difference could be lower.

AnonD-1138975, 21 Jan 2024I am guessing you don't have the base model Pixel 8 Pr... morefor UFS 3.1 storage and an inferior chip the Google is vastly overpriced. Wait 2-3 months and the S24 Ultra will get close to ~1100-1200 USD at the very least. Samsung's phones get so cheap sometimes lol

If someone paid for it then I might get the S24 Ultra, but for the price I'd rather get the X100 Pro global or the chinese X100 Pro+ (hopefully that'll get released soon) or the Find X7 Ultra. All far better than Samsung in photography. If I wanted AI features I'd buy a decent PC and go ham with it. The only good things I can say about Samsung are the updates and that they kept the 3x even though Apple and Google don't, that provides consistency in zoom. But other manufacturers have that as well so nothing much to say about that. Software is entirely preference based and the same features are now available in nearly all android phones, especially through sideloading. OneUI used to be feature packed but slow, now it's fast and packing more features than ever but so too do other phones. I don't see anything special, the S21 Ultra was the last great Samsung phone, that phone REALLY made me get FOMO. Absolutely class design, features and a well refined experience. The S series used to feel special, just like the Note series. Each iteration felt like absolute bangers such as the S7 Edge, S8,S9, S10. Followed Samsung phones from the S4 series, I remember being surprised by how the S5 was water resistant with a removable back cover, what happened to that? They were on top of the game for Android, they were always cool. Now they're just "there", help me understand what benefit anyone will have with this phone instead of going for even an S22 Ultra? I think phones should have a 2 year cycle now, at least Samsung, Apple and Google. They aren't doing much. The day they bring 1 Inch sensors they're gonna act like it's the second coming of christ.

Also, the base model S24U is 1,540$. That's 500$ more expensive.
Of course, Samsung prices will come down eventually, but still, if I have to pick one up just looking at the prices now, I would pick the Pixel 8 Pro.
