21 January 2024
Samsung's big event this week was focused on AI but also brought a number of important hardware changes to its flagship series.

Not getting anyone but the anti reflection is incredible

Hopefully the gsmarena team compares the AOD Vs something like the iPhone so show the MASSIVE DIFFERENCE IN BLACK

Again the anti reflection is insane.. Samsung didn't even talk about it much

I'm getting the new S24 Ultra. And i have the S23 Ultra. First time I've ever gone straight to the other after only 1 year. To be honest the 2600nits brightness on a totally incredible anti-reflective display (has anyone SEEN just how BLACK and little reflections on this side by side with EVERY other phone?!.. wow!).. that's worth it alone. But I'm also REALLY happy they have made 3-10x zoom WAY better. Almost everything i take with zoom is somewhere between 3-7 or 8. 10x optical might seem great.. But it's just too much for most pics within a few miles! 5x at 50mp with a much bigger lens.. this is EXACTLY what we needed over a 10mp 10x zoom. EVERYTHING 4-9 was utter rubbish with digital zoom from a crappy 10mp 3x.
This is the only thing they need to change.
If they had made a bigger lens 50mp 3x optical.. the pics would be amazing at 3x,4x and even probably 5/6x. And then therefore they could have implemented a 6x or 7x 50mp optical to go with that! Alas this 3x i wouldn't even shoot at 4x! I would rather go from the main 200mp (which is amazing quality at both 1x and 2x!) Straight to the 5x.
Anyway .. the screen on this phone is enough reason to upgrade. Trust me. It's stunning. Super bright. And almost zero reflective. It's a game changer!

The plus variant just got upgraded to a better display so I'll much prefer to buy that, instead of the big oversized brick that the ultra is. Also, most people don't even use their flagship devices to it's full capabilities so idk why I'd go for a ultra flagship. Hence, for me at least, it's not worth. For heavy users, of course the ultra will be a better buy

So considerate of Samsung to make it easy for owners of their 2 previous generations of vanilla flagship phones to decide not to upgrade this year lol

Mody4ma, 21 Jan 2024I choose too pricey Xiaomi Poco x6 or Samsung a54\a55 will... moreSometimes is true. I have a second hand A52s and it gets the job done in majority of time for me. Even light gaming from time to time (even though I hate mobile gaming).
Sometimes I wonder why do we need super fast, super camera phones, super expensive phones?
People buy 1500EUR phones and then use them the same as 500EUR phones.
But maybe is human mentality to just buy the best on the market. It makes us feel more important and more happy. I don't know.
Even though I have an A52s which I am proud of, I would still buy a S24+, S24U or S23+, S23U. I would even consider some Fold model (4 or 5).

Actually, the S24 and S24+ prices are 50 EUR cheaper in Europe than last year. It's a decent price reduction when all the prices are generally increasing. The S24+ looks like a very good long-term phone with 12GB RAM and AI. The S24 long-term owning ability is only hindered by the 8GB of RAM which may not be enough for AI 1-2 years from now.

I’m going to predict that most would choose not to get the S24. Yeah, because they still believe that Exynos is ‘garbage’. lmao

SShock, 21 Jan 2024Got S23 Ultra last year. Given how new phone I have and how... moreI never heard of products be repaired through phone. I mean, yeah, if it's some small software glitch maybe. But then, why do you need service support for something small software related, don't you find it on internet or something?
In Czechia, where I live now, is even worse, because they have 30 days possibility for keeping the product in their service (and is according to Czech law). And in my experience, they usually tend to keep it between 20-30 days (calendar days), even if maybe they repaired it quicker. Just to not break this high period.

But personally, I would say you should reconsider with ditching Samsung only for this issue. If you go to Chinese phones, they have even worse service support in Europe. In Czechia, they don't even have specialized stores (like Apple or Samsung does). Maybe just Xiaomi, but only since short period of time. In the past they were non existent.
And even the mobile service stores (the general ones I mean), if you have a more uncommon model that is not in warranty anymore (from my experience OnePlus or Motorola), they will just say "Ohh, sorry we don't repair these brands". It makes it really hard to buy these kind of phones, after the warranty period finishes.

Currently using an S20+, either I'll get the iPhone 15 PM or S24+. I'll just wait first for the review.

none of them are worth bothering with. the 'vanilla' and '+' have weak camera setups, the super massive 'ultra' the only one with 2 worth while camera's has the space yet still lacks a 3.5mm or even an sd slot.

None, I'm using S23 and waiting for next year's SD8 with Nuvia Oryon cores.

Up until 2 weeks ago I wasn't interested in any, but then reports came out about the smaller S24 12/256GB variant with SD8G3 cpu. That caught my attention.

However. I did recently learn that here in China you can do ram upgrades. Meaning you buy an 8GB S23 and upgrade it to 16GB for about 80usd.

                                I choose too pricey
Xiaomi Poco x6 or Samsung a54\a55 will be a better option

I'm only interested in the smallest one,but i'll wait to see how that exynos does,as i'm in the EU.Also if they fixed the blurry camera from the S23.

From the trio, my vote will always be the regular one as I am now in the smaller phone club. I have had enough with heavy phones.
I was set to get the S24. But when Samsung said the S23 series will also get the AI features, it begs the question, what's the point of buying the S24, other than to get 7 years OS updates? I halted my purchase and will look at good deals on the S23 instead, unless Samsung comes up with more interesting promos.

I have both the S22 plus and ultra because i made the mistake of buying the plus and trade ins don't exist in my country so if i had to pick, i'd go for the ultra without a second thought (it also comes with Snapdragon so it's a no brainer)
But as much as i want the flat screen on the ultra, i'll skip this year, hopefully i can get rid of both of these phones for a decent price eventually and pick up the S25 ultra next year (unless it comes with Exynos)

i'm putting a grey case on my mom's s23 and downloading chatgpt for her
