I'm impressed with the new phone - but what I'd like to see is a phone with the combined functionality of the N96, 5800 (touch screen) and an 8MP camera ! Surely this is achieveable... considering other providers are going down these lengths.

this phone is so beautiful but i have a very important question!!...i know u can play java games but where is the 4 way keys...left,up,down,right???(multimedia keys)!!

This is not Nokias answer to iphone..since it's half cheaper..a middleclass device. UI is always a matter of taste..i recommend to try many before buying. If we think about specs..this beats iphone hands down. A good camera (3.2mp, good optics, VGA video recording at 30fps, dual led flash ) GPS with DOWNLOADABLE maps..no google maps means no roaming fees when abroad. Multitasking..plays many kinds of music and video formats..etc. etc..so many things better than iphone..

it's not slow as people slow here , even thouh a slow nokia with features is better than a iphone with missing features and locked

It's always like that with the first release, the interface is slow, full of bugs with mistery restarts and such. Wait a year, the firmware will be upgraded and tweaked to nearly perfection, that is if you can wait of course, just look at N95, it got a number of upgrades since the release.

Nokia has been a late comer to the party as far as touch screen & 8mp phones are concerned. The adage applies here - "Is better to be late than never."
Like it or not sometimes is the market that dictates what you should produce & also in response to what your competitors are coming out with. Samsung has been churning out new phones like nobody business & honestly I can't even keep track of it. Now that they have launched the touch screen music phone. My $ is on their touch screen N-series soon. No matter how popular is the touch screen phone. Key pad phones will still have its fair share of followers & I am one of them..

I bet the best part of all is that this being a Nokia, it'd be easy to transfer or copy files from one phone to another.
none of those limited options that apple has.

Ahh the Interface looks pretty basic and slow. I think there is a lot more work to be done on the OS before this phone is commercially available. Maybe next year
Navigation across menus isn't seamless
Pictures take ages to load
Touchscreen doesn't look sensitive enough (The guy had to press twice several times)
Screen auto roatation takes ages
The menu button icons are not yet final (No theme yet)
But still...im waiting to buy this :)

nokia has said they will ship 10 million units but said it wont be enought to fulfill the demand before Christmas ,
release is expected to delay in some developed countries
said that there are some improvements to be made

Nice way of saving energy as well as avoiding problems.
When it comes to the keyboard, the phone provide tactile feedback.
Makes you feel what you type.
Once you tried it, you can't live without it :)
Been comparing both my iPhone and the 5800 and as much as I like the "wow" effect of the iPhone UI, I still like the freedom of the 5800.

Well, I have a HTC tytn 2 with all the latest stuff on it. What bothers me on 5800 is that there is no keyboard. Touchscreen is okay but sometimes very unhandy to use like when you are calling, you can accidently touch something with your earring and drop your call.
