Well, Roll on the next Lockdown, the Plaque, whatever, you'll be able to escape it down the VR rabbithole. YAY!! (to quote a relative....!)
But what are the long-term effects of using a virtual headset when our eyes are certainly not designed for them at all?
Because as we all jump on the AI spaceship (bandwagon updated) those making money out of it, like the arms salesmen and cigarette and vaping businesses have quite obviously not researched their medium at all, nor been asked to governments as far as I am aware.
I dont want to spoil the prospect of endless warfare or 3D porn for you all, but, and its a valid concern, what does regular use of these gizmos do to your sight and mental health?

Dont want to be rude. 4 days ago bought Metaquest 3 for 630 euros and have to say its amazing what that thing can do.
Apple for 3500 plus many else add ons in other words maybe 4000 or 4500 with Apple care which is 6 times as much is way too much for litterary the same thing.
And its even not fully compatible to android or windows powered devices

Overpriced compared to competition.
499 dollar Meta Quest 3 is in some ways even better than this(pcvr support, huge library of games, sideloading outside of walled garden etc)
Then Meta will release Quest 3 "lite" later this year which will be even cheaper and then Quest 3 pro next year will destroy Vision Pro in the high end with offering face and eye tracking, 4k screen and price less than 1500 dollars!
Also Meta is researching and is going to release smart glasses with screen and EMG device for using for typing in 2025 and in 2027 full AR glasses and 2 gen of EMG device.
Apple is rumored to release their smart(not necessary AR) glasses in 2027 and that will not have EMG device for typing and will need iPhone, Meta could with their AR glasses go fully standalone without need for connecting to a phone.
It is good that we have competition but Apple is just overpricing their headset, it should be max 1999 dollars and still many would just buy regular Meta Quest 3.
If Meta is going to with Quest 4 in 2026 put face and eyetracking, 4k displays with price of around 500 dollars who sane person would buy Apples rumored "2000 dollar" Vision non pro?

potato4k, 20 Jan 2024Even the iPhone. Remember how Steve Ballmer laughed at the ... moreBallmer obviously had forgotton that devices based on the own Windows Pocket PC had no physical keyboard long before iPhones. Anyone remembering iPAQ RX1955? Oh, did Steve Jobs blatantly copy the naming "iPhone" from "iPAQ"? Of course he did!
