MakeMotoBetterAgain, 22 Jan 2024yeah but games are more optimized for snapdragon, so exynos... moreNo optimisation can beat the better ray tracing of Exynos.

potato4k, 23 Jan 2024Then you haven’t bought Sony (or Japanese phones in Japan) ... morei couldn't care less about sony. they are devices with full of features. but niche and overpriced. unlike samsung whose think adding 3.5mm jack and sd slot can sacrifice waterproofing. samsung is the only dominant android brand here. if sony were the one or second, they wouldn't remove 3.5mm jack and sd slot and being original and not following apple's bigfoot traces.

You literally just get a box and the phone. The same with other Japanese brands in Japan. Literally just a brown recycled box with a phone inside, nothing else, no cables.

Seems promising, but again, the issue with recent Exynos is not performance, it’s the performance per watt, the efficiency of the fabrication. Case in point, SD8gen1 by Samsung vs SD8+gen1 by TSMC. Same exact design, yet TSMC version gave much better efficiency. This happened in the past as well with Apple’s A9. Samsung fabbed version gives worse battery life than the TSMC version, despite the TSMC version actually was fabbed on larger lithography. So the biggest culprit is Samsung’s fabrication, not the chip design.
You can have the best recipe and ingredients in the world, if the cook sucks, the food would suck.

My money is on SD8G4 with it's Oryon cores. Highly customized cores that will be closer to Apple than Exynos

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2024Money. Until today, years after release, Genshin Impact is ... moreThe thing is too many chipset that Genshin needs to support thus Android takes time.
Apple meanwhile has only Apple chips so that is easy to support.

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2024Also stop promoting ray tracingActually Ray Tracing has advantages in some, like the War Thunder (apparently it is faster than your standard SD8 Gen 3).

If Samsung can shrink the performance and efficiency gap to TSMC then I'll start to get optimistic. We need Samsung to put up a fight.
The fact that they're trying to price Exynos at the same level as Snapdragon puts Samsung at a big disadvantage. They truly believe that there's no performance difference, and the market says otherwise. It's a tactic/message that leaves a bad taste.
Calling it 2nm or 1nm means nothing if it performs like 4nm. For us consumers if Samsung/Mediatek/Huawei rise up and give Qualcomm fierce competition, that would really make great progress.

While Android users still do not have native controller support so they use 3rd party methods that might cause them to get banned.
But Android users still happily fund Genshin lol.

I highly doubt the Exynos 2500 will match the Qualcomm SD 8 Gen 4 given that early results suggest a 40% increase in performance over Gen 3. Gen 4's new Nuvia cores are supposed to change the dynamics and catapult Qualcomm to competition with Apple.

I was wondering how long it would take Samsung to move to their own 3nm process. They had it up and running more than a year ago.
TSMC's 3nm isn't bad, but it was definitely below expectations. Didn't Apple basically force them to eat the cost of failed chips, simply because there were so many failures and defects?
People seem to forget how easily the performance crown changes hands. Or maybe they're just too young. TSMC used to be a third rate nobody. Intel was the king. AMD was a distant second for processors. Samsung/Hynix for memory.
Intel used to have a bigger market share, bigger performance lead, bigger profit margins, and with a bigger technology lead over the rest of the world than TSMC has today. They still managed to fall behind. TSMC isn't immune. The semiconductor industry is ruthless and anyone can fall with each generation.
