Samsung is thinking about making a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6

This would apparently help it in the Chinese market.

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2024Lol almost everyone in Korea buys a galaxy/fold. Rich or po... moreTHIS! People who buy phone through carriers always change phone every year or two anyway.

It's just a rumour, man do I like the not often seen word COUNTERINTUITIVE.

Before we get to the Z Fold 6 will Google try another $1800 Pixel Fold launch.

Folds are dynamic in design and patents that follow so here's why I think (because I can) unlikely. The rumour deliberately provocative.

Folds are premium let's say target"professional business" user orientated

All Samsung competitor will be doing the same better specs with an eye on cost.
So far only one model per company niche, not niche and affordable.
Cheaper less what? construction, durability, specs etc and wouldn't that be worry.
Samsung may have the most sales, however not the best specs.
Huawei China only was launched at high price, so maybe boxed in than price slashed follow up

Finally @ 25/01/2024 Folds are universally Snapdragon if memory serves. If, and IF Exynos 2400 and subsequent releases prove better than Snapdragon, Samsung will save money switching to its own SoC***(memory again all folds posted similar synthetic benchmarks)

And finally Apple may enter the fold market, if they do he wrote cynically it won't be with specs that match will (even) Z Fold 3, like all others priced more than flagship
I just believe people will pay a competitor the margin, for premium specs than trade down

*** and there you have it,, if the Exynos 2400 is really that good it may be used in ALL Z Fold #
Some cannot and will not accept Exynos potential.

the main concern with foldables are definitely the hinge durability in long term and samsung is the only one to provide reliable phones so far since flip/fold4 series. there are still dead pixels in oneplus/oppo foldables. whatever features or crease-less design delivered, I would put my money on a phone with durable hinge. I replace my phones on less than 3-4 years.

The flip outsells the Fold by 2-3 devices. I've only seen one person in public with a Flip and that was in the summer of last year. I've seen about 7-10 Folds.

Samsung should replace the foldable screen with 2 screens very close to each other! It will close flat, and there will be no big and ugly crease!

Pricing will not help as much as an entire make over for the phone, it looks hideously outdated next to the likes of the one plus open.
A 1tb flagship costs almost the same as a foldable and people will happily buy those, most people also buy on plans/contracts so pricing isnt as much of a problem, China has some stellar phones by local vendors including several folding options which for the most part are far superior devices the the fold line up.
Samsung has become stale in the folding market as well as tnormal phones and simply cannot or will not entertain change, much prefers to copy apples style of rehashing a product year on year.

I can't justify spending more money on a Fold when it's not in any way better if not much worse than an S ultra
Now if they were cheaper (and i mean A LOT cheaper) then i might consider buying one

All foldables will fail in main display after a year due to wearing out of flex cable along the hinge. If they can make it better to wore out after 5 years then foldables are the best.

Samsung Electronics has the mobile division that would design, produce and sell this phone, but they're buying their components from Samsung Display, Samsung Semicon, Samsung Foundry, etc. They don't get much if any preferential treatment when it comes to pricing or delivery scheduling. LG and Sony have had similar policies over the years, although Sony has now been promoting more internal unity to great results.

since they've been making miniscule changes only to the hinge (and still haven't figured it out like others did on their first try), they should just offer an exynos 2200, change nothing else and priced at less than a grand
