It happened to my G3 which was the very first flagship phone i ever bought so after that, how could i return to lg? They never even fixed their phones and even newer ones bootlooped. Lg was doomed, better to pull out then suffer later
As for Sony, they're still around and their phones are good but overpriced and only sold in like 5 countries which makes me wonder how are they still even around? Who's buying their phones?

DarlingYext, 24 Jan 2024About time. If they could agree to pay from now on, why not... moreThey didn't say pay how much and that's key. Nokia was asking some wild numbers and since OPPO is also a big company with big patent war chest, OPPO decided to fight it out until Nokia give better terms. Let's say Nokia was asking $10 royalty per phone, OPPO fight it and now it's down to $1 per phone and Nokia can use OPPO's patents

Narazumono, 24 Jan 2024They should stay out We don't want themSpeak for yourself.

It would be nice if Oppo comes back to Europe but it may not happen until late this year or next year.

Narazumono, 24 Jan 2024The competition is dead. Lg, Sony and htc are all gone. Opp... moreMy oppo find x5 is still running strong, takes great pics and vids, has 360°c nfc with security options when looking at the screen and charges quicker than apples, samsungs and googles phones with perfect battery health. Havent they also made one of the best flip phones out? Guess you must be talking about a different oppo.

I do agree though, after people weren't interested in lg taking risks (and with project ara too, people just dont want modular devices which is funny now), Motorola too (used to be a bigger player in the 90s/00s, im sure they even made a nexus device). Nokia too tbh, watching them and htc just absolutely bomb in the late 00s was a shame. In the western world we've seen huawei crash out (they really do make the best phones to use and were in the android ecosystem before samsung). Its very quickly becoming a 3 way battle for dominance and its ruining the phone industry.

Fyi sony has never been good, when it was sony ericsson colab yes, all xperia devices in the last 10 years have been pretty poor vs current flagships (owned 4 z1s because all of them had major issues, screen cracking and overheating issues, my mate had the z5 premium and it had the exact same problems, cam quality was a gen out too which is again funny).

Awesome that this has been finally resolved. This is so good for the Consumers who have been stuck with the big three Google Samsung and Apple. No more importing Oppo phones from China.

big W for customers, its seen after ALMOST 3 years patent related issue. But glad to see OPPO has signed "peace deal" with Nokia for their patent, but not only for this great news. Find X7 Series may come to global soon!

[deleted post]Have you been paying attention lately? Apple has been getting slapped left and right over App Store policies (they now have to allow third-party payment methods in every major market) and patent infringement (Apple Watches imported into the US cannot activate the SpO2 sensors until the legal battle with Massimo is resolved). We're long past the days of Apple and Samsung arguing over "rectangular phone with rounded corners."

Big win for everyone! Congrats to both Oppo and Nokia.

Maksims, 24 Jan 2024I want them, it would bring more competition to the Europea... moreIn my country you can get pretty much all of the brands phones that support band B20 for 4G
And i am in Europe and in the union also.

It's not like the market have more competition when Oppo, Vivo and so on be in here cause it wont affect none of the customers who anyways buy only either Apple or Samsung.

I use to have only Nokia phones from the time when we had like only Motorola, Ericsson and Nokia and later come Alcatel, Samsung, LG and Sony (Sony come the most late as it bought the Ericsson and went with the Sony Ericsson brand at first)

We now even have brands in here that are not listen in this site at all. Like Leagoo, Unihertz, MyPhone, Kruger & Matz, eStar, maxcom and so on and on. What will be different to have Oppo, Vivo and the like Chinese brands more in the market with other Chinese brands i mentioned where some of them are European brands.

Finally, these companies should concentrate on making better products, not on patent battles.

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2024So Oppo can sell anywhere now while No more Nokia phones? The Nokia brand has a cross-license deal with Oppo in this news hasn't made any new smartphones since Microsoft bought its phone division in 2014. The smartphone that is released under Nokia brand is owned by HMD Global Oy, that licensed its name from Nokia itself, but Nokia themselves doesn't have any major involvement other than lease their name.
