rizki1, 24 Jan 2024I felt Oppo didn't want to extend it but they proved m... moreMy guess was Oppo wasn't even making enough money in Europe to remain very profitable to begin with, and they just used Nokia's lawsuit as an excuse to exit from that region. Essentially they were saying, "If we have to pay this much amount of money we have no reason to stay so bye". I guess this deal gave Oppo an opportunity to keep using Nokia's patents for a price that they deemed to be reasonable and not overbearing.
Whatever happened between the two companies, one thing we can say for sure is that, consumers won.

I felt Oppo didn't want to extend it but they proved me wrong. They are still serious about selling phones. And it's true that their phones are getting better.

Nokia has filed numerous patent infringement complaints against Oppo regarding SEP and non-SEP patents. These patents are about connectivity, interface and security features. The complaints are filed in European and Asian markets.(took a while to sort out then)😱
