BTW iMessage is not end to end encrypted (even though apple tells you, it is not)

If it was Samsung or Google we'd be hearing "copycats" gimmicky features, and so on... Lol.

It's a pity I'll no longer be able to mock the results when Siri can only respond "I have NFI what you're talking about, here are some search results, now leave me alone"

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2024Keep telling that to your self. RCS or not, Blue Green bubb... moreThat's tells me about your mentality around it. It's not about the green and blue bubble. It's about having features available across platforms. I.e. image/video quality, read markers, etc.

The fact that you think it's about having the same color as apple shows some form of wanting "superiority" over other platforms. You want people to stay othered so you or others on apples platform stay "special".

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2024Many Android supporters who think that RCS that is going to... moreYou don't understand end-to-end encryption. Using end-to-end encryption means that the service provider cannot decrypt the data. That's the point.

Apple's rumors always appear the fanciest way, but at least it's better than nothing in catching up with the competition.

Many Android supporters who think that RCS that is going to be in iOS iMessage is Google RCS 🤦🏻‍♂️ the truth is Apple just use the standard RCS protocol and not Google RCS protocol. Standard RCS protocol doesn't even have End-to-end encryption, only Google does in which the message have to goes to Google own server. In other words, Google still can read your messages 🤣🤣

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2024"Putting something in quotes doesn’t make it any more ... moretrue but that statement was what i expected the comments of this post to be, not my actual thoughts
since on samsung posts there were people saying 'oh samsung's copying google' blah blah etc

Changes to usb c because of Europe and money.
Allows side loading because of Europe and money.
Announces AI features because other companies are clearly superior and they are losing money because of it.
Classic Apple, only does something when their wallet gets threatened.

With all the buzz around ‘generative AI’ lately, I get why Apple may feel the need to jump onboard. Personally though, that’s not going to be what I am really looking for in iOS 18. Neither is a UI design overall, though again I get those asking for it seeing as it’s been 10 years since the last major one.

What I am most hoping for is a re-thinking of notification management, it’s been iOS weakest point for me for quite some time. And then integrating these new notifications with features of the control centre, so that it’s just a one stop pull down for all. And yes, if that sounds like what is already the standard in android, then that’s because it’s exactly what I have in mind.

Android has long had the better notification / quick control solution, and it’s about time iOS caught up.

As long as Google controls the proprietary "standard" of RCS it will never play with iMessage. You will just have RCS green bubbles, which in the end is still a win for Android.

So the big update will be the opening up iPhones to RCS standard.
Let's hope this does not come with 27% fee or €0.50 per install.

At least there's no restrictions of SMS (low quality sharing for example)

                                        About time.
