When I see similar things, Wall-E comes into my mind... With all this stuff, people want to become useless, and corporations are happy to take money for it.

[deleted post]Yeah, you don't understand production and component costs.
The A17 Pro inside the iPhone 15 Pro already costs $130 on it's own according to Nikkei. And that's just a smartphone chip. The Vision Pro has M2 and R1 chips inside it, those are desktop chips and already exceeds the apparent $200 you think this entire headset costs to produce. And then you also have to factor in the sensors, cameras, screens, materials like metal and glass - the list goes on. And the production of those components too. And then the taxes. Taxes for making the product, taxes for shipping the product, taxes for shipping the components for the product... there's a lot.
I do think myself that 3.5k is a bit much for a headset like this, but factoring in the costs of everything it's not incredibly hard to see why it is so expensive. And also, Apple.
Maybe at some point they'll make a cheaper standard Apple Vision if they do go all in with this and it goes well.

Even though I owned iPhone & Mac Studio. This stupid goggles is definitely not on my list and never will. It's doesn't matter if it Apple or Meta or Playstation or whatever VR/AR headset brand out there. NOPE, not going to spend my dime on stupid goggles 🙄

I remember when my S7 Edge shipped with the free VR headset which was impressive at the time but I used it like 10 times and that was it. I still have them and my S7 Edge still works, incredibly. This will also happen with this cumbersome and expensive product. To really use AR on a daily basis you need something not bigger than a pair of glasses. Probably 7 years from now.

I heard this product ships with a charger in the box.. this is so environmental unfriendly. It’s a deal breaker for me. I’m gonna pass… *being sarcastic*

Who thinks we'll have the conversation at the work places " please do not wear your Apple Vision while at work, we know you can see thru them, but this is not professional"
Like it used to be Bluetooth earbuds and headphones.

As a tech enthusiast, this product is very exciting. The tech inside and the software creating the experience is phenomenal that you wonder how it's even possible. The eye tracking, the persona, the hand gestures, it's amazing that we are at this point that the tech is actually accessible to the general public.
As a consumer, I have no use of this right now.
