JerryRig burns a Galaxy S24 Ultra in a furnace to find out how much titanium was used to build it

05 February 2024
Like with the iPhone 15 Pros, titanium is only used for the shell of the phone, not the internal frame.

Pro Max is too big and wide, this adds weight. But iphone pro is much smaller, still should be like 170g at most. It is almost 190. It has same 187g of Sony 1 v, much larger phone.

Hahaha. The Titanium in the iPhone causes overheating and it's also not as durable as its made out to be. Maybe it was a poorly executed idea. I wonder if its causing interference with smoother connectivity too.

People should stop falling for fancy names and fancy hardware specs. This applies to almost all fancy smartphone cameras too. Fancy sounding hardware doesn't always make things better.

Anonymous, 05 Feb 2024The weight savings on the iphones are real and noticeable. It's because it was necessary, they already weighed almost half a pound!! In the case of the 15 pro and pro max, it is justifiable, neither Samsung nor Xiaomi needed to do this just to attract attention

You already know users of the s24 ultra or some other that has titanium!! Put your cell phone in the oven to find out how much titanium it has, since it is a characteristic that you will never remember in your life that is there.

Titanium is just a PR stunt from both companies. Apple and Samsung only used a few dollars worth of the metal in there phones. What next carbon fibre 😜

S23 Ultra was better ... S24 Ultra is a scam : build quality and SoC !

The silver lining compared to the 15 Pro Max is that the lower grade titanium combined with the plastic embeddings do a better job at protecting the back glass from cracking and shattering, unlike the 15 Pro Max's rigid grade 5 titanium.
