Energizer P28K with 28,000 mAh battery coming at MWC

07 February 2024
The largest battery ever fitted on a smartphone.

DarlingYext, 10 Feb 2024"..that's said it's also just simply too muc... moreYou also didn't specify the reason why it couldn't be carried onto a plane…

Anyway, there are two limits generally used by airlines. The lower limit is 100Wh as mentioned (and corresponds to around 27000mAh — slightly more if you take the nominal voltage of a lithium-ion battery to be 3.7V), and usually applies to checked-in luggage (although most airlines also restrict you to up to two devices above 100Wh in your carry-on). The upper limit is 160Wh (around 43200mAh) and usually applies to carry-on luggage, and usually you can have up to two, as above. How these limits are applied may vary by airline, but that's the general rule.
If you ask me, 28000mAh is a weird place to stop. Energizer should have gone for either 27000mAh or 43200mAh instead. But in any case, I don't think I'll bother with this phone even if it does come out. The low end Helio G99 that it's said to come with is bad enough, but the lack of a headphone jack like with the P18K is a deal breaker for me.

DarlingYext, 10 Feb 2024"..that's said it's also just simply too muc... moreYou Will be allowed to travel with this phone. You just hate to think a little about it. Why would they make a smartphone with 28Ah instead of 26Ah? Probably not just to shoot themselves in the foot. If they're doing a personal device with 28Ah and not 26Ah is because it's a well thought out decision and will not hinder their costumers if they were to fly. Besides, for things you bring with you, many companies will permit you to exceed 100Wh devices anyways nowadays

I Just Read, 10 Feb 2024@ SuperSpruce Well what can I say, I admit I knew absolute... more"..that's said it's also just simply too much because you won't be able to fly with it."

If you were to read this part of my very first comment here, instead of mindlessly downvoting it because it was commented by me, you would've already known. Anyways, this is the reason why laptopos don't go over 99Wh with their batteries.

I admit I should've phrased it as "you won't be allowed to", instead "you won't be able to", that is my fault.

        @ SuperSpruce
Well what can I say, I admit I knew absolutely nothing about this restriction! And be information so important it has to be and will be retained

The beauty of this forum and why it works is the dissemination of knowledge

You don't need long posts (@ I just read not meandering) just information.

So yeah despite being a mobile phone, it simply CANNOT be taken on any airplane.

Just going over the arguments in my mind and as this is new information to me, the P28K it will be a prohibited item

This question will no doubt be asked of Energizer
        Enough of me
        Kudos lies with SuperSpruce

i doubt it's the same thickness as a rugged phone. Li-Po would be a nice touch. that'll last for almost a week for sure!

Anonymous, 07 Feb 2024MiUI would empty this battery in less than 10h That's a weird way to say Windows

Assuming a nominal voltage of 3.6V, this would be a 101Wh battery, above the legal limit to carry on an airplane. That's right, you cannot bring this phone on a plane. For another perspective, this battery is so large that it's bigger than my bulky gaming laptop battery, which is 90Wh.

Oh yeah, this again. Let's see if it gets cancelled or not lol.

DarlingYext, 07 Feb 2024Yeah, with such a large battery yes. I fast charge my phone... moreWhy is it you're always the centre of some controversy ? I see it, the near universal panning of your ill judged comments, once again you don't don't counter the comments with anything factual just this

                  "..hijacked comments section.."

Hijacked? From who? You own the comment sections, or what? Delusion at it's best.

Sad so sad what I don't see is any support from the established account holders hyperionburn, Notafanboy, Justasmile, Darth Caesium, Cpt.Power etc. (I do follow the many WELL INFORMED, so no offence if you are not published now.... it's not the Oscars!)

Again universally panned for what, posting nonsense that is easily debunked doing a google search.
Laughable you upvote the ONLY person who chose to remain ignorant and brag about downvoted what based on maths is correct, as I have said before if you don't understand the question don't comment, and really don't vote on the answer. double no no.

I follow you, many of the account holders follow you also I don't think given the absurdity of the comments you posted anybody expects you to be right GOOD LUCK.
Good luck if you believe them delusional, then the that goes to the source, Gsmarena.

Nice, but how fast does it charge?

Oh dear God another day another Darling Yext hijacked comments section the least qualified texter, who just post utter nonsense, not based on any laws of physics, science or capacity to understand..... anything.

"Yeah, with such a large battery yes. I fast charge my phones on a daily basis and have no issues with heat, but that's because they actually charge fast, while this will not. What I was saying is that even 200W would be TOO SLOW for such a large battery, thus it would generate a lot of heat and stay hot for a prolonged period of time.

Maths 28000 mAh divided by 5000 mAh is 5.6

Well Energizer at the MWC avert embarrassing yourself with the first 28000 mAh. You can't argue with the intellectually immune.

Repeatly and as recently as 02/02/24 I posted this as Darling Yext is still spouting overnight charging

for all the people saying buy/use powerbank - forget that there is a lot of power loss in the 3.7v battery to 5v usb to 3.7v battery conversion process.

having all the power straight without conversion i think is going to be an extra 30%.

what really surprises me is that nobody has developed anything to combat this.

Cpt.Power, 07 Feb 202428000 mAh si way too small. Core i mean nuclear powered ... moreSounds interesting but honestly it smacks of Theranos to me. Their prototype now is 0.0001W, but next year supposedly it will be 1W. Pretty tall order to expect from radioactive decay, which is inherently a slow process. They will get funding, the execs will get rich, but we won't hear about them again 😅

Very good. All phones should now come with a minimum of 28,000 doesn't matter if it's apple, Samsung, Huawei or others. This should be something the EU look into to save us money on our electric bill because of the cost of living crisis
