Tensor G3
1x 2.91 GHz – Cortex-X3
4x 2.37 GHz – Cortex-A715
4x 1.7 GHz – Cortex-A510
They're supposedly dropping a core to go to
NOT TO THIS 2022 configuration
Dimensity 9200
1x 3.05 GHz – Cortex-X3
3x 2.85 GHz – Cortex-A715
4x 1.8 GHz – Cortex-A510
NOR Snapdragon 8 gen 1 2021 Configuration
1x 3.0 GHz – Cortex-X2
3x 2.5 GHz – Cortex-A710
4x 1.8 GHz – Cortex-A510
BUT TO THIS 2024 Configuration
G4
1x 3.10 GHz – Cortex-X***
3x 2.60 GHz – Cortex-A7**
4x 1.95 GHz – Cortex-A5**
Hey Darling what do (can you) think?

Pixel phones are so hard to recommend to anyone...
Most people would basically be happier with an iPhone or Galaxy.
And I've owned Pixel phones.
But Google's policies and strategy are hard to follow.
First they've used the same sensors from Pixel 2 to Pixel 5a, now they're using the same mediocre chip (with barely a few adjustments) in phones that they sell at a high prices.
That's how you can tell that the Pixel development team doesn't actually use Pixel phones.

The best phone out right now is only OnePlus 12.. Rest are Wallet squeezer.. OnePlus has everything you name it! Performance, battery, camera, gaming, 💪, software, support and most importantly the Price. Best of the best. Shame for Appel, Google and Samsung ugly over priced junks!

Are people here that gullible?
These Geekbench scores are easy to fake! They rarely ever come true.
As for the state of the market, Google doesn't care for YOU the reader. You aren't their target audience. Google's executives made the decision to copy and follow Apple in their phone segment. Part of that was to break away from Qualcomm who was and is abusing it's position as leader and patent holder. Google was struggling to support their phones for 4 years when they had Qualcomm chips, and now they can easily support them for 8 years. Their contract with Samsung means Google has engineers that work closely with Samsung's engineers, and they stamp out custom silicon, with license agreement to the underlying drivers.
As for performance and efficiency... well, it mostly hinges on the Samsung Foundry. Their nodes have been problematic ever since Qualcomm adopted TSMCs 7nm silicon. So past the QSD 870 we haven't seen true upgrade until the QC 8g1+. Samsung has finally caught up with the Exynos 2400 which is above that, but below the QC 8g2, if we are to be realistic. The QC 8g3 is only a smidge above the QC 8g2 and Apple A15. Not much far away but still at the top position is the Apple A16 and A17. Were talking efficiency here, not just pure performance. Remember the problem that was the QSD 888+.
Future outlook? Well, the Google Silicon or Tensor Chipsets will improve. Maybe with the G4 but definitely the G5, they will use the new silicon nodes. So they will surpass the QC 8g1+ in efficiency (finally), and likely land below the Exynos 2400. So from a purely efficiency view they're still shy of the former flagships, and it may look ugly because...
...well Apple may use the "fixed" TSMC 3nm node, same as Qualcomm, and both might use new architectures that will also bring added improvement. So we could be looking at a +20% to +50% increases along the efficiency curve. Leaving Google far behind. But these are educated speculations, and best to just wait and see!

""Google Tensor G4 reportedly runs Geekbench 5""
I cant resist to make a joke out of it but i cant make a good one.
Is this cpu like weak or something or is that app so powerful that it's weird that the chip can run it ?

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2024Performance is lower than G1.
Seeing that it still uses ... moreWrong again!!!
Google put a pathetic lower end two year old Mali G-710 MP7 GPU inside their latest Tensynos G3.
I mean how pathetic is Google to put such a cheap GPU inside a $1000 phone? Chinese manufactures put G710 GPU in $200 phones.
MediaTek puts latest and greatest Immortalis G-720 MP12 inside their dimensity 9300.
It's incredible how low Google can get to cut costs.

Performance is lower than G1.
Seeing that it still uses Mali-G715 and one fewer core, it seems more like upcoming SoC for Pixel 8a series, rather than Tensor G4.

PhoneAddictedTR, 09 Feb 2024google should go to Mediatek!!!MediaTek is also an option. I really want Tensor to be on par with the competition. It's pretty atrocious for a flagship chip to have 3100 multi score on GB5.
Meanwhile, Qualcomm, HiSilicon, MediaTek and Samsung are working their butts off. Well, MediaTek is putting a lot of effort in their D9300 chipsets.
