Do yourself a favor and read the source CNN article as linked. GSMArena paraphrased key information that ends up confounding legal facts. Claiming that 'there are reasons to believe' is a presumption, whereas the correct term as used in the article is 'alleged'. Moreover, Huawei can't be suspected of corruption and favoritism - that would be the charge for the government officials.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2024And you forgot to mention that was the command from big bro... moreThey cannot compete with the Chinese, so they go hamper the Chinese. Happens all the time, Europeans have done that to the Americans in many industries and vice versa, only difference is that usually the Europeans have to suck it in quietly. While hampering the Chinese plays on the anti-China vilification they have been drumming up for decades, so its easier to sell. Not to mention, they shot themselves in the foot with Russia, so they have to hamper the cheaper Chinese product because now their own products are far far more expensive due to their energy crisis.

Guess the nation that does this.
Why does this eastern nation has police in Canada? Canada has giant community of them, so they can arrest them and take to Asia to punish .

Love how people hate so much USA but keep using everything they produce, in the end you are helping to fund them.

They just didn't want It to gain ground without any backdoors for them to exploit.

I just love how some here are vehemently against Huawei because It is supposedly spying or making backdoors on behalf of CPR, but they totally ignore how western companies are doing the same. Considering I am living in EU, being spied by my or an allied government is worse.

How many times has France own security squad have snooping on France for years, why is france all of sudden deliberately to make examples of Huawei 🤨, weird country and hypocrites ( this includes the usa and especially the UK)

                                        Quote:
The report comes from a document provided by the former NSA contractor Edward Snowden and disclosed by the New York Times and Der Spiegel. It will add to embarrassment in US government circles, in light of an October 2012 US House of Representatives intelligence committee report which said US firms should avoid doing business with Huawei and another Chinese telecoms company, ZTE, because they posed a national security threat.

Huawei, which maintains operations in the UK despite all but ending its attempts to access the US market, due to government resistance, claims to connect a third of the world's population. It is also the world's third-largest maker of smartphones, after Apple and Samsung.

Saturday's reports quoted from the 2010 document: “Many of our targets communicate over Huawei-produced products. We want to make sure that we know how to exploit these products.”
