If they can get it working a Z-shape would be great, as we could have roughly 16:9 both opened and closed.
But like outwards bending V foldables, it would mean a fragile display.
So would be great of the could make the hinges close in on them self in an "e" shape rather than "z".

      (3*9/16) / (16/9) = 0.95 so close to one.

This has to be fake news. If it is sketchy, it is.

Based! Now make an 8.5" slab phone please

If foldable phone already has imminent screen issue from folding and unfolding. What makes this tri fold any better.Just buy a mini pad😀

              Definitely fake news.

Rollables could easily be the future, if they do the imaging via projection, instead of a think sheet of lit leds. That way the durability could possibly even beat regular smartphone screens, and they could be extremely pocketable too. What they would need is very high structural Integrity. That kind of smartphone sould be the future. Future smartphones could be like 30% thicker than present smartphones, and be about 20-25% of the total area.

Huawei should stop and make the foldables more durable and reliable for now

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2024No, please Huawei, no. Don't do it. No one askedSo? What's wrong with them doing something different, experimenting with stuff?

Foldable device is adjust a stupid idea to begin with. All that engineering wasted on the hinge mechanism and the screen that has the crease, it's just a not worthy ideea. It is going to fail anyway. There are marketing people in charge of strategy in these companies, I can't explain why they continue to design foldables.

Whenever there's a rumor about BBK's brand suddenly gonna quit, I kinda believe it, just like how they cease to exist in some Europe countries

If Oppo and Vivo go then only Xiaomi and Huawei will be there and Xiaomi's foldables are so mid in terms of software. God, why is the smartphone market so poor?

Anyways, the tri-folding device sounds awesome, I'd buy a foldable if it had 14:9-18:9 unfolded aspect ratio and if it were 10-inch+. 11 inches would be utter perfection for content watching and being able to just stay at let's say 6-6.5 inches in the main screen would be perfection for day to day use. Idk how exactly Huawei would do it but the current Foldable style with 3 very thin folds could make my dream a reality. I'd have been okay with the crease and the fragility of a folding phone if it had a better aspect ratio and a screen huge enough to justify it. 7.82" on the Find N3 is nice and all but due to the aspect ratio, videos and movies are cropped af so it's basically like having a 7" phone and I already use a 6.8" phone so why bother. But still a tri-fold sounds cool, 6-6.5" for basic tasks, 8" for some work which requires more real estate and 10 inches for content consumption.
