Stainless Steel is both stronger and more scratch resistant compared to Titanium. Titanium is desired when weight is an important factor, which is not a concern in the least for a smartphone.

Back then it was a huge slab but phones were a lot small back then. While any average phone is over 165 mm tall these days. The nexus 6 was quite wide tho. But still it was easier to keep in jeans due to smaller length and only while using it was a bit uncomfortable. But again no phone is completely perfect because everyone has a different screen size, display, weight, material, aspect ratio and width preference

Premium feeling and was well built, while being relatively compact by today's standards, also had a lovely QHD screen and great camera. Also had a Lumia and a Moto G that were equally stunning with their unibody polycarbonate designs in a matted finish. Those were the days

People want titanium because the 2 biggest smartphone makers use it, and so its been marketed as the next best thing since sliced bread.
Now in all fairness my 15 pro max feels super nice, BUT that is because of the improved ergonomics and not the titanium.
The titanium certainly feels lighter, and it appears to hold up to light scratching way better then the 14 pro max and prior iPhones did so at this point I am in favour of it.
If anything I would prefer a brushed stainless steel frame and reduce the damn cost of these phones, its getting gross the cost of them now.
I look forward to the return of user replaceable batteries (EU ruling so may not be global) and hope it doesn't come with some kind of caveat, being able to swap batteries was always just such a simple thing, heck the size of them you could easily carry 3 or 4 and last for weeks, ok nowadays they are still small and only last 1.5 days tops but still having a spare would be amazing.

Anonymous, 19 Feb 2024Ceramic is brittle which means it breaks on impact force, ... moreThat ceramic fan guy will probably ask for a diamond frame on phones next, because his textbook says it's the hardest material. But he doesn't know that hardness is also quality of brittle things and sapphire, glass, ceramic etc despite being hard materials, can easily be broken

Super Android 22, 18 Feb 2024Polycarbonate not exactly just plastic and no, polycarbonat... moreCeramic is brittle which means it breaks on impact force, such as drop on hard surface. This is unacceptable on a phone. In race cars, performance benefits of ceramic brakes probably outweighs risk of shattering due to impact force.

This poll shows most people are dumb and only care about looks and feeling, not actual capabilities . This is especially apparent when it comes to phones, and this mentality contributed towards loss of headphone jack and microSD card. They'll be putting their precious titanium-glass-ceramic phone inside plastic. You could buy several Poco F5, Motorola G100, A52s for the price needed to repair cracked glass on your iPhone 15 pro max. Too bad, that titanium frame couldn't protect your phone from cracking.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with plastic as material. Chrome or stainless steel.

Shellyman Studios, 18 Feb 2024We need to bring back metal frames and plastic back phones. Samsung did the same with base S21, but the decision was met with massive criticism from glass worshipping dummies and hence, later versions have a glass back which is now a very old thing to put on a phone's back

Specs for value over marketing materials anyday. So NO to titanium if it means extra costs for literally a negligible improvement that is used primarily as a marketing ploy.
