Xiaomi 14 Ultra is here: brighter 1-inch main camera, Titanium Special Edition

22 February 2024
A refinement of its excellent predecessor with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, and potent cameras.

Cheaper than sony obviously. Jpegs of most brands are too enchanced that getting different brand to supply sensor will be not noticeable unless phone has unprocessed DNG.
While brands that stick to sony will be moving to exmor T.

The 1/1.14" of iphone 16 pro is exmor T and can outperform Lyt900 easily. Unless apple ruins it as usual with sharpening, noise reduction and tanning people.

        Hello,

        I didn't see the information.
Is the fingerprint reader optical or ultrasonic?

Still with boring 3.5/5x camera, no 10x...I hate those phone companies

It will be interesting to see how much power the main camera will draw, since it's now built on a 22nm process, compared to the 40nm of the IMX989.

Saying "136% more" and actually being "136% of" is just a nasty lie. Shame...

Sad that only the Titanium edition gets satellite connectivity. Would've been useful for me where my work place is a literal jungle.
Otherwise, a good yet small upgrade. Too bad we'll get big pricing in the global models 😂

Seems Xiaomi cheapened out, not Gorilla Glass.

Friend of mine will be happy, in discord groups users called his choice to get 13 Ultra dirt cheap "stupid" because "14 Ultra will get huge upgrades"

Seems he will have a good laugh today.

Xiaomi 14 ultra is king phone till now.
all Samsung, itrash etc. are for braindead cult only

Pricing always kills Xiaomi stuff and it's just so weird. Like, who in right mind would dump 1500€ on a Xiaomi, no matter the specs when same money gets you flagship iPhone or flagship Samsung? Issue with Xiaomi is that they just don't have things sorted out properly. Maybe in China, but in Global market, a lot of things feel half baked, half finished and with very little to no support in services or software. You can't charge premium price with that even if you have the biggest and greatest specs on paper for that device. That's just not enough. I feel like Xiaomi is still the best of the Chinese brands, but that's pretty low standard on a global market, which is why these phones shouldn't cost as much.

Either way, Xiaomi seems to have been more tame with the upgrades, since I expected at least a upgrade to the LYT600 sensors. But still the macro capable telephotos and the upgraded main cam are welcome.

Xiaomi uses a 60-ish lens, crop to 75mm. Upscale back to 50MP.

The narrower is FOV, the harder is to use larger camera. If the lens was real 75mm, without periscope xiaomi would need to use even smaller like 1/3.2".
