Very big majority have voted with their wallets and they keep buying non foldable phones instead and that won't change in the future either.

Everyone in NA finances their phones through their carrier except for the few like myself that are off contract. That includes the iphone which beat Samsung's overall sales for the 1st time in '23.
If you sold something for $500 on ebay, payment would likely be facilitated through paypal. Would that $500 be different in your mind?

Ouifuf, 23 Feb 2024Xiaomi 3rd over oppo/oneplus is very surprising. The n2 and... moreTech tubers have been boasting about the Open. They don't usually reflect the general consumer, but overall, I agree. Although book folds in China outsell flips, Oppo got off to a hot start early in the year with their flip prior to the X3, V2 and Mix Fold. Honor had a huge Q3 following the release of the V2. Xiaomi doesn't even have a flip so this makes no sense to me. I think this was an error.
These are the numbers I'm seeing from China Daily on the share market in CN.
5. Vivo 9.7%
4. Samsung 11%
3. Honor 17.7%
2. Oppo 18.3%
1. Huawei 37.4%
I don't know if their numbers are completely accurate because they are reporting 7 million sales.

Most people buy foldables not because they really need foldable phone, they buy it because it's from Samsung.
Buying a non-Samsung foldable phone is eating a pancake without using a maple syrup, you get an unfinished product feeling..

Well if people actu... moreNice hallucination bro 👍
In real world, more people actually cares about foldables than gimmick VR headset.
The article literally shows a proof that samsung has 60% foldables marketshare. On the other side, there is almost zero probability apple could even get 10-20% marketshare on VR headset in the end of this years.
Many apple user returning their VR headset after dumb realization that VR headset was too heavy to use comfortably, not to mention it also comes with laughable 2 hours battery life.

Well if people actually would be interested to buy one 😆 That would be great start
Price of the money is not the issue, the fact that people just don't care about foldables is real reason.

If Apple released a foldable tomorrow it would immediately jump to 10% adoption rate and become the market leader overnight.

I used to be in the foldable phone bandwagon. I made the decision to leave it for dual display solution with my LG V50 and its detachabel Dual Screen case, and it turned out to be the best decision I've ever made. From my personal experience, it turns out that dual screen is actually legit more practical and more flexible than foldable screens, especially if it can be detachable.
Now, I'm looking at the LG V60 and Microsoft Surface Duo 2 to add to my personal collection.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2024That laughable number is because of high price point. The f... moreI agree, although I use the fold 5 and it feels like a pretty complete package, there is still a long way to go when it comes to finding the perfect size, perfect hinge mechanism, a lot of R&D in materials for the flexible display, etc. The foldable market is still trying to break out of its niche by making better deals, lowering the price slowly, but it's not there yet. That doesn't mean they are not worth it, I mean I cannot see myself using another phone other than a foldable now and I war pretty reluctant at first when I got mine. These are thing people here don't really understand and I can tell the majority are speaking out of their asses without even owning a foldable (trying one in a store really doesn't give you the whole experience)

Samsung sells in many countries and they have been selling foldables since 2019. That's why their market share is high. This Chinese brand is just starting in 2022 (except Huawei and Xiaomi).
