Not because they think sensors are good.
Make 3 prototypes of same phone.
First with imx890, second with isocell GN5 and third with ov50A.
The prototype with imx890 going to give better DNG files.
That is worth paying few dollars more per sensor.
Phone is sold for $500 with OV50a? Then charge $515 and offer imx890 or even 766.

Everything's all fun and games until the TECNO CAMON 30 Pro 5G loses the headphone jack and microSD card slot where these two features are primary motivations in making the CAMON 20/20s Pro 5G a very good budget phone that's making big waves on being a quick to sold-out gadget.

DarlingYext, 27 Feb 2024What a serious beast!yes it is. the fact that they put sony's imaging asic or ISP whatever they call it, inside the phone is just beyond impressive. the only thing that's missing is the audio jack. would be so great if they put quad dac like LG. i would be sure enjoy using this phone for 5-12 years!! if any phones can last this insane amount of time.

Just because it's not Sony or Samsung doesn't mean it's bad, it seems people hate OM sensors solely because they make a lot of low end small sensors which of course will perform bad.
