yupppp hmd/nokia is getting into it!!!!

Carol-, 07 Mar 2024Sorry but you are quite wrong. Nokia licensed the name and ... moreI have plenty of bitter experiences dealing and debating with you here at GSMarena many times. There is nothing wrong about if I am wrong and if you are right. So be it. None of us are going get any award or Nobel prize for our findings. Most of the information about various organizations across our Globe are held secret (because, they are private) though some of which are revealed and understood by us in some form because of www. I thank God for the knowledge he has given me and I think it is more than sufficient to lead the rest of my life. No one can take their knowledge to their next life (if there is one as believed by some) or to some other place in our Universe (as it is not capable by us, as it stands now). To my personal belief, KNOWLEDGE is a curse that destroys our mother Earth which is not properly used by most of us. It is this knowledge and conscience that drives our Ego. To my belief, it is a blessing to learn from others which I've experienced many times from you. To be honest we are not qualified or rich (powerful) enough to talk or comment about huge organizations of our world. We may review and blame/praise about their products and services since we expend our hard earned money on them (products). Talking about civil rights and more is beyond my limitations and I don't want to cross my boundaries at any time in my life. I always talk about consumer rights and as a consumer. We may suggest what could be right for others and for other organisations but, we have don't have the right to direct or order anything. To put it precisely, no one in this world can claim that they are right at all times. We are always wrong in some way or other. To end up and to say it again I may be wrong as said by you and I don't feel shy if and when I am wrong because, none of us were and are right at all times in our life.

Carol-, 07 Mar 2024So i was right about the region 😊. It's sad but true, ... more"But hey hmd build their newer phones in Hungary, i am kind of proud of that.."

If you think I wasn't, you are greatly mistaken, but now that they are abandoning the Nokia name I'm sorry but I can't be proud anymore.

"..not a flagship, more like a "flagship killer" that will never kill a flagship. For me that's the fact😉."

Plus that's not how it works, for some people the Earth being flat is a fact as well, when it has already been proven wrong countless times. I also don't get why you find it necessary to be disrespectful, when I'm being perfectly respectful.

"So i was right about the region 😊. It's sad but true, people on the east have a "show to have and be rich complex"."

Really? This is where you are taking this? I'm saddened, I thought we were having a nice civil conversation, I guess I was wrong.

It's sad but true, people on the east have a "show to have and be rich complex". Not that i am involving you in this cliche. Well i am your "nemesis" the one they call Count dracula🤣. Just joking. But hey hmd build their newer phones in Hungary, i am kind of proud of that, hope they will start doing that with all their lineup.

Nokia licensed the name and patents to hmd for 10 years straight, not microsoft. Microsoft never owned nokia name, they were just allowed to use the name before transitionating to ms name, and the false continues. Do better researches.

DarlingYext, 05 Mar 2024I live in Eruope, and no one buys Nokia phones here, only i... moreI am not interested in getting into a debate with you but, want you to understand the simple Marketing Strategy adopted now by HMD which was adopted once by Microsoft. "NOKIA" is a brand name owned by NOKIA Corp., who doesn't manufacture mobiles now, though they manufactured mobiles before. When NOKIA Corp's mobile business faced setbacks the sold their mobile manufacturing division to Microsoft and licensed out their "NOKIA" brand name for mobile manufacturing (only) to Microsoft. When Microsoft faced setbacks, HMD bought the "NOKIA" brand license from Microsoft. At the time when HMD bought the brand license from Microsoft the brand license was alive and since it was the property of Microsoft, they had the right to sell the brand name "NOKIA" to HMD according to the agreement made with NOKIA Corp., by Microsoft. This brand name licensed out by NOKIA Corp., is permissible only to MARKET mobiles and nothing more according to the license. This brand name has nothing to do with the quality of mobiles manufactured by HMD which was the case with Microsoft before. Though Microsoft held the "NOKIA" brand license at their time they sooner switched over to their own brand name "Microsoft" to market their mobiles. The most important thing to understand here is that Nokia Corp., has nothing to do with the quality of mobiles (Hardware and Software) manufactured by HMD which was the case even when it was manufactured by Microsoft. NOKIA is just a brand name like many popular brands in the market. As the license of NOKIA Corp., with HMD is going to expire now, HMD plans to launch their own brand because, this brand license shares considerable cost of the mobiles manufactured by them (HMD). In other words, I believe that future HMD branded mobiles would cost less than today's NOKIA branded mobiles because, renewing this brand license costs money as brand licensing has its own costs. TO SAY IT AGAIN, the quality of mobiles manufactured by HMD has nothing to do with the brand name "NOKIA". I'll always support HMD (if and only if) for their bloat free Android experience they deliver to end consumers. As I don't know anything about their (HMD) future plans, let me not beat around further. No manufacturer forces consumers to buy their products. If we like it we may purchase it or we may simply ignore them. Though I criticized HMD a lot before in other opinion pages of GSMarena, I always want HMD to succeed because, of the software experience they provide. To put it precisely, no one knows the advantages of clean bloat free Android and if they do, they will not be here to spread hatred about HMD.

DarlingYext, 05 Mar 2024I live in Eruope, and no one buys Nokia phones here, only i... moreWell, i know not to many people in europe owe nokias, and the majority owe apple or samsung, but that's not the point, i do not know in which country you live, but it seems you live somewhere at the east, where people buy porsche and live in a degraded 2 rooms apartament. Buy fake whatches and gucci and so on, while actually beeing poor on the scala. Where i live, people actually stare at my x30 and ask what phone it is. They buy iphones because they do not know better or got used to or got locked in that ecosystem, the same with samsung. Not because those devices are expensive or whatever, people here do not show their status through their belongings, instead tough there are the foreingers walking arround with their devices like they owe the world, well those pathetic ones can pe spoted from far away and most are not locals, cause really nobody here gives a s.. about your phone or car or whatever, besides them. Which is actually the normal behaviour of normal people. I buy my devices based on my principles and needs and what i want to support. Not on cpu and what the x and the y has.

Carol-, 04 Mar 2024Well, you miss the Elephant in the room. Europe wants susta... moreI live in Eruope, and no one buys Nokia phones here, only iPhones, Samsung and Xiaomi phones are popular. I'm sorry I wanted to and still want Nokia to succeed, but this clearly wasn't how to do it, which is why they are going to be gone very soon. Don't get me wrong making budget phones is important, but a brand without a flagship isn't serious, and people see that, and then they don't buy their products. Samsung (as much as I don't like them) is succesful because of their software support, that's one thing, the other reason is that they have flagships and their budget phones look the same, or at least very similar, so not having enough money for an S series phone doesn't mean that you are gonna look like you didn't have enough money, you can still fit in. Looks aren't everything, but they are very important in today's world unfortunatelly, and that's not to say Nokia phones looked bad, I actually think they looked pretty nice, they just didn't look like their flagships, as they had none.

I'm a flagship user, not some flagshi... moreWell, at some points i give you right, but let's not forget that devices like you mentioned with emmc, are NOT for europe, USA or orher parts of the world where people can afford something better, they are purely made for emerging markets, or makets where people can't afford something past 100 euros. Of course some could argue that this means, profiting from the poor, but in the same time don't this people diserve to use smartphones? Should they be free? Would you work for free? How many brands even build usable devices at this prices? If you talk to this people who buy this devices they will tell you that at this prices, strangely nokias are the best. In the same time some could argue that devices should cost 5 euros and be flagship quality accross the board, but we do not talk m..s here.
Yes hmd made a lot of mistakes on their path, and had a rough start with CEO that had no idea what he wants while streching way beyond their power just because they tought that nokia name will help them, instead of taking very small steps and building devices carefully to build a powerfull fanbase. But that is also very subjective as people tend to want cheap, and well, nothing can be cheaper then chinese. I also can't blame them for giving up on Flagships, if you take a look at top 10 most sold phones in the world, all places besides 1 (or maybe 2, i do not remember exactly) are occupied by iphones, and none of the not iphones are flagships, being something like samsung A 50 series. So yeah, even samsung does not sell flagships as they would like too, so why would hmd invest in something that will for sure bring them nothing but losses? I would also like for them to really invest time into releasing the greatest device ever, as nokia once did, but then again i realise that this would not be possible, not with the chinese army of "flagships" floading the maket every 3 months and the people of today. To be able to re-enter flagship market they need way more money to burn for research, marketing and hardware then they have, they would also need a better then android OS that grows very fast to distinguish them from the mass of androids, because If you look at google with a WAY bigger investement power or samsung, and not even they release something to change this "iphone is premium" believes, how could hmd even think of something larger with android? Nokia indeed is the only brand that could have been able to dethrone apple, but not now, not with this people, not with android. When you know a bit of business you start to understand why hmd was hit hard and streched to much and why they now try to recover from their mistakes, and you will definetly understand why flagships are a no go, not for now, not while people compare everything premium directly with iphone and apple, as if.... but apple did it right, not their devices but their words made those fans be fan(atic)s. Hack 80% of population still thinks that the iphone is innovation and was the first smartphone in the world. This iare the people you're dealing with... So, my opinion, they should stay midragers (and lower) with flagship quality and go sustainable, if they want to survive. Meanwhile to restart the MeeGo project, and this time to do it right and market it for people that are tired of AI garbage cameras, and traking/ survailance. Pure smartphones for people that know what they want and need. And those niche devices should be flagships as their won't be enough buyers to reach high sales, well at least not straight from the start, but could be enough to keep their flagship line relevant.
