How to tame the SD 8 Gen 4, if the rumors are true, using a 3.7 GHz CPU clock or 4 GHz CPU clock, the same as the laptop hardware. and adreno 830 gpu, rumored 3nm fab. The issue of efficiency is the main focus again, but the focus on performance has become too wild. (SD 8 Gen 3 CPU clock 3.3 and 3.4 GHz only)

Anzar, 29 Feb 2024Bro it doesn't not effect the performance
Thing is mo... moreIn theory yes, the larger processing node, the worse battery life, but with chipmakers showing so much power into CPUs, benefits are barely felt.
It's like making a more efficient car engine, they sacrifice gains in efficiency for more power, but without making efficiency worse then in previous model.

8 gens 2 or 8 gen 3 lite such a waste-
SD7 gen 3 would do better and anyone can freely use last year top end chip for best possible performance cheaper way.

Qualcomm kinda got the oryon CPU for nothing
Because the X5 .. black hawk is in the same tier in-terms of performance gains....
The oryon..It's not going to be this ultra leap like what people were expecting
Sometimes you just can't predict how things will turn out

ImDed, 29 Feb 202410 nm for a phone chip must be crazy ineffecient by current... moreI still have my Oneplus 5 (snapdragon 835 10nm chip) and it works 100%, opens every app pretty fast, android 14 lineageos installed feb security patch etc batt lasts all day.
Considering it cost me €380 new in 2017, it was well worth the money and paid itself several times over haha

Mills, 29 Feb 2024I despise people who say things that are 1/2 years old and ... moreSome people here and android subreddit have zero notion of reality.
They have zero clue of implications of canceling or delaying a project.
It is not just open phone and insert another SoC. Motherboard has to be designed all over again. There is software part as well. No OEM after months of design and testing phases are gonna redo the whole project just because of 1 component.

This was rumored to have like 10,000 in GeekBench 6. Seems hefty to me. Using PC cores in a SoC would really stick it to Apple! Besides 8G3 and D9300 already do on par/somewhat better than A17 in terms of benchmarks
