It’s Apple’s strategy to make an entry level iPhone with the cheapest cost, aka using old designs and parts. The smaller size of the original SE was just coincidental since at that time the oldest design was the 5/5S design.

What is the benefit of having SE with high price and unnecessary bells and whistles ?
SE should be of
- iPhone mini style/size
- LCD display, to provide options for those who can't bear FLICKERING of OLEDs
- Battery life must be improved
- night mode is a must for camera, no omission as for now
Else, we have other iphones to buy 😉

its a pretty bad phone but apple still knows if they price it decently all the android kids with a Samsung AO4s or something will ask their parents to buy them this phone so they can be included in their friend group and have a social status etc blah blah
And instead of buying a 2nd hand phone, they buy this so more profit+users for apple

All I personally miss from the current model is an ultrawide camera and maybe a full screen front (at that same size, so something like 5.5 inch https://www.displaywars.com/4,7-inch-16x9-vs-5,5-inch-d%7B19,5x9%7D). but that‘s not necessary at all and FaceID seems slightly less versatile than TouchID anyway. Otherwise the current SE is perfect for me. This one would fix nothing while introducing many of the problems I have with the standard 13/14/15… models. I‘d rather get one of those because it at least gets that ultrawide camera while retaining all of the downsides mentioned.
