rizki1, 05 Mar 2024No one could have expected this before 2019, before that Me... moreThey are always the largest phone chip maker since around 2014-2015, despite the failure of Helio SoCs. This may not the AMD story(hell no! AMD's share is still much lower than Intel or NVIDIA) and their situation is always better than AMD...

No one could have expected this before 2019, before that Mediatek was a hot chip, inefficient, some say it doesn't support OS updates etc.. They fixed that and are now the largest chip maker.

Anonymous, 05 Mar 2024Then if you see market above $650, mediatek share is basica... moreSurprisingly, those lame Helios were probably enough to satisfy the usage of most people who bandwagoned on flagships. 😅

Snapdragon for flagships, premium and midrangers (400-1100+)
MediaTek for entry-level to lower midrange (300 USD)
UniSoc for budget phones (below 150 USD)
This is how I see the chipset market
HiSilicon Kirin, Samsung Exynos and Apple A/M-series being all closeted.

Then if you see market above $650, mediatek share is basically zero as always.

Nothing new. They have been the largest provider for around a decade in terms of shipment. MTK secured the entry level and medium market segmentations.
Apart from Chinese brands and Samsung A/M series, the top contributors should be brands targeting developing world, like techno, infinix...
