My eyes were opened to how powerful desktop PCs are once I got to put together one for myself. Best combo has always been a midrange laptop and remotely accessing a powerful PC for the heavy tasks.

There are tests how much slower the laptop gets when loaded beyond the 8 gigs. And how easy is it too actually go beyond 8 gigs.
Then things swap memory kicks in which degrades the SSD which is not replaceable and so on.

We now h... moreTo a degree it is yeah, will depend on what workloads you're doing, the actual intel chip you're using and if its got a dedicated gpu (which at that price are QHD, micro/mini led 165hz screens with 16gb of ram and usually atleast a tb of nvme ssd storage AND an rtx 3070 roughly now).
Best part of apple silicon is just efficiency really and cannot compete with the best desktop silicon yet (linustechtips just recently proved this and it wasnt good for apple lol).
Intel chips have dedicated low power cores and AMD has currently one of if not the best intergrated gpu, plus you know you can do more/actually game on amd and intel laptops too so theres that. The efficiency of atleast AMD isnt that far behind and they dont even have a tenth of the budget of apple AND use the ancient x86 standard from the 80s so everything is in apples favour and it REALLY ISNT that much difference at the same price point (m1 made intel and amd wake up a bit).

Where are all the Intel and AMD chip news in this site ? Apple have there full list of devices in here that they release all the time while no other brand show news of any. Like where is Asus and Samsung laptop news ? Why dont we see them in here ?
You maybe say it's a mobile phone reviews and news site but then how come that dont apply to Apple when all of it's devices get trough here
It's the double standards and favoring one brand over others. Site name should also be change to applearena at this point

Just got my yoga pro 7i for about 3 days ago. I get 2 days battery life for 5hrs per day of office work and im happy for my purchase. Got it for about 920usd. Core ultra 5 125h, 16gb ram, 512 storage. I hope i wont regret it hahaha

it becomes worse when you realise you can't even upgrade the memory on it.
you know, if apple was nice enough, they'd give us atleast one proprietery SODIMM-isque slot that will only work on Apple Computers and nothing more.

We now have a real laptop with no fans, runs cool, performs fully when unplugged, and with a battery that won’t drain for nothing. Intel still cannot deliver anything close.
The only thing is Apple has lost many of its chip engineers to Nuvia/Qualcomm.

potato4k, 05 Mar 2024Yes. Just don’t buy 256GB models. The only thing broken about the 256GB is the capacity. It‘s still way faster than any SATA connected SSD most people commenting here probably have in their laptop, and also much faster than the UFS storage in their phone

More than 2 day battery is useless and just adds weight.
Also, you know the battery life of Apple Silicon MacBooks? Obviously not. It‘s already multiple days for most use cases. And also, these new chips are not just faster but more efficient as well so they will last longer doing the same work.
