Weekly poll: would you buy the Nothing Phone (2a)?

10 March 2024
This is the first true mid-ranger from the company and is priced accordingly, but it still brings some of the advanced features of its pricier sibling.

Sort by:

You guys need to add an I don't buy big phones option. The phone is fine outside of it's size.

It's low/mid-ti... moreYou're clearly young enough to not know Carl Pei started OnePlus branch and only sells flagship killers( 1+1, 1+3, 1+5) before BBK decided to take it away from Carl and sack him because his OnePlus contradict with their sale of Oppo/Realme.

Nothing Phone 1 was not a flagship killer.
Nothing Phone 2 was not a flagship killer.
      Nothing Phone 2(a) copy above

You see the pattern here, Carl has no intention to make flagship killer anymore, he wants to create fake hype with fan base and maximize profit with fans experience, he goes on stage give presentation/live stream for every phone he launch(seriously,if Xiaomi do that, it will be daily soap opera), collab with Casey Neistat/influencers. he's like a merchandise seller now, he even include a light blinker to make you feel good about the mediocre phone he sold, and y'all bought it.

Id swap maybe samsung aith apple in video recording quality but lets be honest, they all do the job just the top 3 just have the edge 😊.

Tbh they still have the best cameras/possibly recording, strongest glass protection and software is probably still the best and rivals/beats apple in a lot of important ways (ease of use, i find ios quite frustrating haha) from what ive seen, the multi connect ability between its own products is 2nd to none. It is a shame.

I'd say currently the best camera phones are from these brands in this order:

                    - Huawei
                    - vivo
                    - Oppo
                    - Xiaomi
                    - Samsung
                    - Google

Its like everyone is ignoring what ive said (mis reading it, dunno), multiple times, I'd go for a year or 2 old flagship, preferably from oppo, honor or xiaomi (imo best price/spec/performance ratio).

At around £350 new the nothing 2a isnt the worst offender (thats straight up sony 10 series, £200 phone being sold at double or more) and its overall spec package is good for the price (i wouldnt pay more than £300-£350) i just wouldnt pay the £400 for the 7a just for better "software quality" pictures.

Either phone WOULD do you well and get you through atleast 3 years of usage, take atleast "useable" pictures and vids (i mean social media compresses the data anyway right and thats what 98% of people take pictures for now isnt it?).

Very weird choice to do that thinking about it when clearly they have a serious business deal with samsung and probably get reduced costs for parts etc (plus i just dont rate sammy sensors as much after the 6 pro).

I missed those days when Carl Pei sells a quality build and killer spec android, people called it flagship killer.

Nowadays he sell a plastic monotone light blinker and expect us to pay a Xiaomi price for cheap spec and build, except there is too much to choose from if I were to buy a mid range phone today, I can't be considering Nothing.

I was expecting Carl to replace Huawei's legacy, he never did, he never will.

MASTERY, 11 Mar 2024I bet many of these brands pay GSM arena for these poll topics. Of course they do. Carl Pei in particular is notorious for it. Why else do you think all these mainstream influencers are bothering to review this midranger?
