Degener8, 08 Mar 2024More EU rules that no EU company has to follow… interesting 🤔 Nobody forces apple to operate in the EU. They are free to leave anytime they want if these rules are too much to ask.

Anonymous, 08 Mar 2024How about Android allowing the uninstallation of Chrome? You can uninstall chrome if you know android platform tools and adb commands (the con is whenever you factory reset phone, it will come back)
If you want to completely remove chrome and associated code, that is not possible (chrome webview is part of system) unless you root the phone and install another webview.

potato4k, 08 Mar 2024One thing I hope that will happen is for Apple to decouple ... moreEven better, that android 10 or 11 phone of yours has a possibility of installing a cfw based on a newer android version if it wasn't totally locked down. Incompatible apps can run again.

justasmile, 08 Mar 2024EU bullying a trillion dollar company. Nice 😂EU can do whatever the hell it wants to Apple.
It can't pull out of the European market. Outside of US, everyone uses dominant Xiaomi, BBK and Samsung, along with Transsion. No matter what consumer rights act, bill or law the EU passes, Apple will have to comply.

People outside the EU who want the same benefits should start pestering their representatives to copy the DMA and DSA.
Yeah, it's likely that countries civilisationally closer to Europe like the UK, Canada, Japan, Korea and the USA might copy the legislation sooner or later, but the sooner their citizens start demanding it, the sooner it happens.

It's amazing that people still believe the lies told during Brexit that Brits can leave the EU while still retaining all the benefits of EU membership.

Hmmm. Is Apple counting the UK into these improvements? Because I would dearly love to be able to remove Safari from all my Macs!! Which exclamation is trying to add whether or not the new regulations are for all Apple products, and not just their obsolete overpriced phones that need these regulations to be able to compete in the EU phones market anyway, because being locked into only their system is the chief reason so many of us prefer Android.
To get rid of Google on my Windows computer I have already installed DuckDuckGo and iPhones & iPad users really should avail themselves of this browser which unlike Safari gets rid as the default, of all your browsing history and your data & stops everyone and their Google from tracking you. All of which uses up your space on your Apple in Safari, so the EU is really helping this backward company you see!!
