David 040882, 08 Mar 2024What's wrong with under display fingerprint sensors? I... moreI don't specifically ask for a side mounted one, just physical one and not under display.

A lot of people have issues with how reliably the under display one do work, issue is that whole internet is ignoring people starting about it and burry the comments about people with issue as deep as possible under the ground, because a lot of people don't want to see these issues because "under display works fine for me, so it works for everyone and thus the issue does not exist"

I and a lot of people have issues with these scanners, no matter if optical or ultrasonic, every finger print is different and these scanner do work excellent or just plan terrible or not, there is not really a middle ground, you fall under the lucky people where under display works without any issues or not.

For me physical scanners work 99% of the time, no matter if it was a LG phone, iPhone, Motorola or even a scanner on a 10 year old notebook, they work.

But under display ones give issues, to a point I and a lot of people just turn it off because it doesn't work.

And it is a annoying issue because the whole market moved to them, another issue is what I already said that a lot of people don't want to hear about this issue and burry the comments about them as deep as possible.

Another annoying issue is that people often tend to say "you use it wrong" or "rescan your fingers" or "remove screen protector" and even if you do all that and still have issues, people ignore it.

I like the tech, but it seems like no company bothers solving issues with it (not the only issue with current smartphone market where we get half baked functionality, or go back to worse solutions but because nobody complains, even if they have issues, the companies ignore it)

Anyhow I once spoke with someone who knows more about it, his answer was simple that the reason why more people have issues with this tech is because it stands still, issues it has could be fully solved but no one bothers.

And people not wanting to hear about others having issues with UD scanners, and burrying those posts, are the reason why "the issue does not exist".

So I wish we went back to physical scanners, because while the issues with under display ones could be solved, no company will bother doing so, they want the cheap solution and going back to a existing tech would be cheaper if we think that way.

Of course I would prefer them to just fix it.

Sorry for the long post.

DarlingYext, 08 Mar 2024The translation on these posters is absolutely terrible. If... moreBecause it's basically machine-translated using Google Lens, so it's quite likely that the machine isn't developed enough yet to correctly transcribe Chinese characters to Latin letters and thus making a seamless translation.

punmeisterone, 08 Mar 2024Now THAT's interesting. Having OIS on the ultra-wide cam. That's actually very typical for high-end vivo phones, it's kind of a trend that they've started with the X50 Pro (X51 5G), but yes it's definitely a great feature!

The translation on these posters is absolutely terrible. If for nothing else, you can see it where it says "oriainos4", which is supposed to be Origin OS 4.

Now THAT's interesting. Having OIS on the ultra-wide cam.
