Are they releasing the bootloader this time? So many people gave up on Asus because of this and now they are being sued.

What started to make Zenfones popular was the compact design. Now what is the selling point? You're literally competing every huge flagships while having a bland and ugly design. Zenfones had its market, and ROG had its own, now your ROG is becoming Zenfone, and your Zenfone is becoming ROG, this has to flop.

Zenfone was interesting, small dimensions, handy, good performance, good camera and a quite good price. Now another big phone that brings nothing interesting to the market. One of many - but a higher price. Good for you Asus - for releasing a phone that no one needs.

Where is the standard size phone?

That price is just insane... there's nothing super premium or desirable that would justify paying that much, especially not with that design.

What the heck is this?? Why is the Camera misaligned? Soo a shoddy looking phone I could never go near this and also way too large. As a brand it honestly pushes me away from anything that they might do not just this phone.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra is going to flop. Hard. The main selling point of the recent Zenfone series was flagship specs in a compact package. The Ultra has no USP. Theres nothing special or unique about it.

Exactly the same mold of the Rog 8. Same battery capacity and everything. Asus doesnt even try anymore. They are in for the last money grab

Sam.Smythe, 10 Mar 2024Yeah, I kinda agree with you. But what makes Zenfone a quic... moreWell i am EU citizen updates dnt matters much for me because my phone been always bought on contract from my network carrier.
In other words every 2 years i get a new phone when my old device is paid and i am always try to sell it when it still have most or decent value, so whether my phone have 2 years of updates or 10 it dooes not matter for me and it should not matter for anyone else because lets say 99% of phones bought even in case of S24 Ultra said 99% will not last 10 years without any issues, the hardware will not keep up that long and even if do the apps will still updates and evolve but you cant teach new apps from 2034 year to run on a 2024 hardware. Game from 2024 wont be the same as game from 2034. Playing clash of lords since 2014 its been made and its a completely different game as a back then. Back then had Lenovo Vibeshot with 3GB ram and 32GB storage and were enough to run a game and every monthly update was between 10-30 megabytes up to maybe 50. Nowdays updates are every 8-10 weeks but each of them is between 600 m egabytes up to 1,2GB.
Said Lenovo Vibeshot from 10 years ago runs the game very smoothly back then nowdays even my previous phone Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G with 6GB ram had lagging issues nothing big but it was there. My current Motorola edge 40 pro runs game without any issues.
Even something less hardware difficult like Facebook is not same as it was 10 years ago.
Back then even something with 1-2GB ram was enough to run smoothly facebok app.
Nowdays 10 years old phone will probably be unsupported from 2024 apps and even if you manage to install latest edition of facebook app it will take very long time to load, to type to someone load movies, pictures, every possible content. In other words it will be super slow and will take a lot of disk space compared to a facebook from 2014.

So you will be left only with stylus since updates have minimum extra value.
Only in countries where you have no carrier and contracts. Or whn you buy for full price.
But all honestly not many people and definitely not from poor countries like 95% african countries, all south american countries, or carribean region countries, such as cuba, haiti, dominician republic etc. have no luxury to dispatch 2000 euros for S24 ultra with most configuration.
Its just not possible. Was in many as a part of my vacattion in my life and honestly hotels and enjoyign ebaches was good but when i was traveling across the country to see more from it i cant find a better word to describe what i saw than a uber horror.

Cpt.Power, 09 Mar 2024Well at least for same price you get less bloatware (Samsun... moreYeah, I kinda agree with you. But what makes Zenfone a quick and easy decision for most (Zenfone's cheaper with exact same performance compared to S2x Ultra Series) now it's just a matter of taste and needs, sans price. A bit sad seeing Asus hiking their price closer to Ultras.
Samsung got stylus and longer OS support, while Zenfone got all you've stated earlier. Pick what best for you, anything but the price.

so why change the ROG phone if they were goin to release a zenfone ultra?

they should hav jst left the ROG phone with the former design nd bug bezels nd big battery, the way pple loved it

I like the shape of the phone with classic corners (not round). It's the same shape like my Pixel 6a. It's perfect for a firm grip. But I don't like the camera setup/design. Looks weird. Greetings from the Czech Republic.

i don't mind a bigger screen personally. compact and big phones have their pros and cons. but asus should not have made the zenfone bigger. there is a serious lack of compact phones in the market and consumers need more options

2 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates is not enough anymore, when google and samsung are promising 7 years. asus needs to step up their OS updates. if it did, i would have bought the zenfone 11 ultra over the S24, since the zenfone is still keeping the headphone jack. but alas, i have to use a dongle.

maybe if asus brought back the ability to unlock the bootloader, i would be ok with the lackluster OEM updates, and i could just rely on the lineageOS community to make a build for this phone. but asus didn't

also, the asus phones need to be more available in canada. they aren't, which was another factor in influencing my decision to get the S24 instead

it lost it most valuable feature, being a compact phone, not only is it big now, it's also ugly, goodluck to asus on this downgrade

Ouifuf, 09 Mar 2024If you read where I said I would prefer the phone to be a b... moreLook, I used to have a 5.2" phone with a 16:9 aspect ratio, which was the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017. It had an AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution, which works out at 425PPI. My biggest problem with it apart from the small and slow 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage was that I could easily see the individual pixels just by viewing the screen at a normal distance. It was especially prominent with circular UI elements and objects, which made them look more squarish. If 425PPI isn't enough for me, I dread to think how much worse 388PPI would be, and I'm someone who wears glasses and has a very advanced eyesight. Either your eyesight is worse than mine (if so, I'm sorry because that must be very rough for you), you somehow view your phone from an impractically long distance, or you're in complete denial. Also, gaming phones normally have 1080p displays because it gives better performance than 1440p and because if it was played at 1080p, the extra resolution would just sap battery life, so it's more so a compromise done for gaming phones than as something with no obvious downsides. 1440p is definitely unnecessarily sharp, but 1080p is also not sharp enough, and something should be done to reach 460PPI instead as a target for every flagship phone and maybe even for cheaper models.
