Yes that's right, but more damage is to the apple's side than eu.
"If Apple pulled out, millions of jobs would be in jeopardy. It's called leverage"
AFAIK apple produce anything and everything in 3rd world countries only. If you are talking about that countries, the loss in jobs will be a collateral damage. Apple will be responsible for that.

Things today are not as they were even a few years ago - who would have imagined that farmers would rise up all across Europe? Is that a sign of a healthy economy with positive outlook? If Apple pulled out, millions of jobs would be in jeopardy. It's called leverage.

By the way, a decision this big usually requires shareholders to approve.

Apple in China is in quite a hefty decline, they had 20% of the market in 2022, in 2023 they had 15.5% thats a significant drop in just a year.
Europe is apples second biggest market after the America's which includes Canada, Central and South America , and china is Third.
if they want their profits to remain they absolutely must tow the line in the EU and they know it.
Money talks at the end of the day regardless of what users may think about the company either way.

Apple would still have a presence in the UK, unless you're saying people would get their iPhones bricked as they travel from. Actually they will suffer a lot. That is also why they change little by little with force from EU Parliament while they behave like kids who are not allowed to play as they see fit anymore. And europe definetly does not need them, so yeah apple needs EU and not the other way arround. As for imports and demands, again, wrong, if apple pulls out, carriers won't support apple devices, or apple devices won't be made for european carriers, rendering the devices: glueshut disposables. Last but not least, apple does not sell only smartphones in europe, so yeah, they would do anything to stay on this market, even if it means to be cringy and behave very Immature the whole time doing it. Pretty much like their fans.

But it's a legitimate question of who needs whom (more). At any rate, if Apple did pull out I don't think it means they will suffer revenue loss as big as the original market. Demand will still be there, sales in other region will increase and there will be a boon for Apple imports for arbitrageurs.

They are facing deep recession anyway and in the long run we're better off focusing on other markets. So Apple threatens to pull out of the EU altogether (pull out, banned, same effect = no tax receipts). What would the EU do?
I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

Curious,
Has anyone else noticed when an article posts information from X/Twitter that any infor selected does not open X/Twitter app to the source post?
Is it due to the twotter/X informarion being a picture imbeddsd into the article?
It seems like the posters name, the picture or the comments button in the posting of twitter seems selectable but nothing happens not even an error?

Sado0og, 09 Mar 2024Not fair.... Apple owns the hw and sw with their store..... moreThat's incorrect. It's like somebody came to your home opened a store ant told you that you can buy only from this store. Then somebody cames along to your home and wants to open another store, but the first store owner do not let him despite being in your home. One day uou realize that it's your home and you are in control. You can get better deals from both if they are in competition. Apple might have their platform but it operates in EU market. So get a long with rules or go bye bye, this is one language Apple understands well as they were using it against it's developers and customers.

Apple owns the hw and sw with their store..... moreYou don't have the right to do whatever you want simply because you own the company - you still have to comply with local laws and regulations.
You must be a wonderful person if you have that mindset:
"It's my company so I can do whatever I want, including creating anti-consumer policies, monopolising the market and forcing others to do what I want."
"They're my children, so I can treat them like objects."
Do you not see the problem?

Not a fan of Apple by any means but on this issue I'm more partial towards Apple. Apple charges outrageous amounts for the hardware and services they provide but they sure do a good job providing those.
The EU on the other hand, with the decisions they've taken for the past few years have shown that they care about everyone under the sun except for the tax paying European citizens living in the bloc. The EU has become all about control, censo rship and surv eillance !!
Looks like they couldn't get Apple to comply with whatever their nefarious under the table deal hence now getting back at Apple under the guise of 'upholding the law'....
Apple is one of the great American companies that have contributed massively to the mobile phone and computing landscape, despite all the controversies attached to their past.
EU otoh is just a bunch of unelected bureaucrats that consider themselves elite and above the average tax payer, lives in a world of their own and thinks they have dominion over every single tax payer in the EU bloc. Their push towards an all ev future without the required infrastructure or any consideration towards the feasibility of such a change for the lower income tax payers, farmers and most importantly their commitment towards immi gration while completely ignoring the please of the tax payers is ample evidence of this.
I've been against Apple.for many things such as removing of the headphone jack, chargers, outrageous sums for memory upgrades etc but not this.
If this becomes the norm, this will set a bad example.for the future where the eu will become even bolder and try to inject their politics and messages into many more strategically valuable companies.
Apologies for the rant...

Anonymous, 09 Mar 2024I wish governments globally had the courage as that of EU, ... moreNow imagine you working hard on your own company, developing software, hardware etc and then a foreign wants to be part of your business without paying.
After that, the state comes and say that you're obliged to give money to the other company or you'll be shot down.
